It is high summer on Gaza Citys beach. A horse and cart patrols the shore selling brightly coloured swimming rings. A small boat is giving joy rides out to sea. Families sit on chairs while a few children play in the water.
Normally, in the midst of the school holidays, the beach would be crowded. Particularly this year, as an electricity crisis makes many homes unbearable during the heat. But these days many parents are keeping their children away.
The first hint is the smell: the sulphurous odour of raw sewage.
Where children are swimming the water is a murky brown, with a fine suspension of faecal matter visible to the naked eye. Small fish at the waters edge, scooped out by the giggling children, are dead.

Perhaps if Gaza would stop trying to destroy Israel, Israel would help. The real hell of it is Israel does help Gaza and they should not. They should build a wall, a mine field and a free fire zone between them and Gaza and just say, “you are own your own, when you children and husbands and wives and parents are dying of disease and injury, our border is closed. Our hospitals and very superior medical care is not to be given to you. Your children and those you love will die due to your actions and not ours.”
“Call me when you want to live with us in peace but in the meantime die in squalor, disease and violence. Your fate is of your own making and not that of Israel. We are locked and loaded and in our left hand the olive branch of peace, in our right hand is the might of Israel.”
If Gaza was friends and good neighbors with Israel instead perhaps a little Jewish know how could be applied to prevent sewage on the beaches. Pal’s have a greater problem with sewage spills in their souls in the form of hateful Islam.
I guess I should care about the people in Gaza, but I don’t...
To be honest,
I don’t give a flying F about the mooselimb children of Gaza.
Future terrorists.
We need slaves to pick up the trash!
Yeah.....me too. Who cares?
The cut in electricity to Gaza is really about a dispute between Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, and Hamas, the Islamist outfit that runs Gaza.
That figures. Thanks for clarifying.
Sorry, I was looking for other things. If you know what I mean.
