Paul Ryan couldn’t persuade him. Neither could Mike Pence. And in the end, President Donald Trump couldn’t reel in John McCain either.

The president made a last-ditch effort, calling the Arizona senator and key holdout on the GOP’s Obamacare repeal measure, as the bill’s fate hung in the balance, according to two sources familiar with the conversation. After Pence had spent about 20 minutes working McCain, the senator went off the floor to speak with Trump by phone, those sources said.

-- John McCain hates President Trump so much that he had one chance to stick it to him before he dies and he took that opportunity. --

McCain will do that again and again. As long as he is in Congress, he will work to spite Trump and the public. McCain is a globalist, big government tool. Which makes him typical for a US Senator.

He betrayed the USNA and was protected by his Admiral father. He betrayed his shipmates with sloppy handling during the war and was protected by his father. He betrayed his country while in the Hanoi Hilton and was protected by his father. He betrayed his wife on his return stateside. He betrayed the Senate with Lincoln Financial. Why would you expect him to be loyal to his countrymen now? His loyalty has always been to John McCain.

Big mistake, Bull Man.

I’m just as unhappy as you are..... but looking at it logically 45 members voted for full repeal and 49 voted to get rid of the mandates.

We need to work to pick up the 5 members we need. Doing anything else is suicidal..... Democrats will take this to single-payer in a heartbeat.

Voting Libertarian won’t solve anything.

McCain sent one of his staff members to London to pick up the Steele dossier on Trump and once received, delivered it to Comey. McCain holds grudges and will do anything to make Trump’s life as miserable as his is. This is just the latest example of McCain’s payback to Trump.

McCain has always been a petty little man.

I remember how he acted towards Bush 43 after losing the primary to him. Petty.

The Uniparty asked Traitor Juan to kill the bill .
Juan is a victim and untouchable.

Look for him to cause more problems in the senate as the Uniparty fights Trump hiding behind the poor Juan .

Perfect Mitchy Poo set up .

Put them all on Obamacare especially the Clintons and Muslims .

John McCain hates President Trump so much”

Make no Mistake, John McCain HATES AMERICA and the AMERICAN PEOPLE and he always has. If there is not a payday in it for him, he will do whatever it takes to SCREW THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, he has been doing it his entire life.

Why is he even allowed in the Senate after being declared Brain Dead anyway??

Call ME a phony hero, willya? You gonna PAY and PAY and PAY for that, sucker!

Just consider this one installment on a blood debt that shall never be paid in full.

John McCain should have been out of office following the
“Keating Five” indictment, in which he was a leading player.

Some people have no shame and no conscience.

I'm going to express the opinion I stated I was going to keep to myself:

There's always been some question whether Senator McCain was a traitor or a war hero in Viet Nam. There was always some distaste about how he left his disabled wife when he returned to jump on the money train. His duplicity was noted when the "maverick" got caught in that banking scandal. And what about him accepting the role of "unstoppable front runner" for the 'pub nomination when Huckabee was gaining traction? And then some would say losing the election on purpose.

Just a few weeks ago he went home (probably fuming because of his hatred of everything Trump) and has a timely diagnoses of brain cancer. He gets well enough to return to DC, get praise heaped on him, then sets up Republicans for defeat on beginning to clean up the health care mess. How can I say such an outrageious thing? The 'pubs would've gone along with ANYTHING he demanded to get his vote. He offered nothing.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a "miraculous recovery". Traitor or hero? I don't think the jury is out on that one any more. He's consumed not with cancer, but with hatred....for a country that let him stay in captivity and for an alpha-male who achieved what he wishes his handlers allowed him to achieve.

Too extreme, even for FR? I don't know. It's the way it all seems.

If it wasn't McCain then some other newly elected RINO would have stepped up to kill repeal.

The best pay back for this treachery (imho) would be to unelect Jeff Flake in 2018.

Nope, tired of this game. The whole party is a fraud. Sick and decrepit like a rotting corpse. I have heard this same argument for 50 years and this is the end of being played. As many have already come to recognize it is no longer democrats and republicans - it is a ruling class of aristocracy lording over the plebs. If Schumer ran the senate what would have been different? If the democrats had a majority what would have been different. I tire of the kabuki dance.

Don’t kid yourself, it wasn’t just three republicans killing this. They were just the three publicly needed to do the vote. Plenty of others were quietly cheering them on. They are the ones that will be campaigning and raising money for the party. Face it, this republic is dead. Nothing left but a oligarchy of money and power.

We need to work to pick up the five members we need

It isn't the way it is. We worked hard to get the Republicans a US Senate majority, and just enough of them join the coup. If they were to get another five "Republiccans", they'd find enough bought and paid for Republican Senators to join the coup. Our votes mattering is a myth.

On what do I base that outrageous claim? Across the political spectrum with just a handful of exceptions, they keep talking replace, reform, whatever. They don't talk about the billions of dollars their deep pocket donors in medical, pharmaceutical, insurance, and caregiver industries get out of this unsustainable mess. Until they stop subsidizing those industries and make them competitive again, "health care" is unaffordable. But why would they care? Their pockets are getting lined just fine.

I agree, in the long run the Democrats are going to have to live with the fact they fought to keep this intact.

I have said it before and I will say it again and again and again. John McCain has never met a back he did not want to stab.

I suppose he thinks this will ensure his legacy. He is correct. His mistake is in thinking that legacy will be something to be proud of.
