Are you still procrastinating? Heres a list of expensive handguns to drool over.
How much are guns worth? Its a question often asked of both online forums and local gun shops alike. You want my personal opinion? A gun in the right situation is priceless. Any gun. Any gun in your possession when faced with a critical situation is a gun on which you cannot place a material value.
Hopefully few of us will ever experience those extreme circumstances, the situations that we all practice for but pray will never arise. Most gun owners would argue that whichever weapon theyre carrying when those unfortunate events unfold instantly becomes their most valued possession.
Under normal circumstances, however, the topic of gun price and value is an unending debate. When it comes to hand guns, there are hundreds of options, with thousands of available features. The list of performance specs, features, and modifications for customization are almost endless. The price tag for guns covers an equal spectrum. From out of the box, mass produced simplicity to incredibly detailed, high end, complex works of art, gun costs are as varied as the owners who possess them. For the average Joe looking for a range piece or personal defense sidearm, many high end models are simply out of the question.
As someone who fits that average Joe description well, there are still a handful of guns Id consider saving up spare change to afford. Though many of them are expensive and cheaper alternatives may be found on every gun shop shelf, here is a list of nine guns that Id argue may still be worth the price tag.
Some might say this gun is chunky, but Id argue its size also provides a sense of confidence. This 13+1 gun is meant to handle abuse and does so with ease. Takedown is simple and maintenance is a breeze. Like most H&Ks, its hard to find negatives to point out about this gun.
Volumes have been written about this small frame pocket pistol. Its incredibly light, weighing in empty at less than a pound, thanks in part to its many aircraft aluminum components.
Pound-for-pound one of my favorite guns on this list and one of the best 1911 carry guns available. This short barrel gun is surprisingly accurate and impressively lightweight. Labeled a subcompact 1911, this model is made for smaller, shorter rounds allowing it to avoid feeling bulky. Many would argue the trigger pull feels lighter than claimed by Springfield at around 5 pounds. The EMP is everything we love about nice 1911s except in a smaller package.
What can be said about this piece other than the fact that its an absolutely artwork. With a golden inlay on the blue slide, this gun embodies beauty, to the point that youd almost want to leave it in the case. Almost. The rounded heel is incredibly comfortable and the gun holds true to every aspect youd expect from Kimber. Read the rest of the 9 high-end handguns here.
I love the S&Ws especially the 10mms. The hard to find carbon steel 4505 is interesting as it was ordered for our submariners and made in a limited number (1,500).
I (definitely do not) NEED ONE!
There is a Tritium tube sight available thru Kensight and several other suppliers that will fit the Bersa, which uses a staked dove tail. Consult an experienced gun smith.
It's a front sight only, but combined with the rear adjustable blade sight enhanced with "Bright Sight" (Google it, it's readily available), I have a good sight picture under almost any light conditions, even for my nearly 70 year old eyes.
As far as ammo, I shoot an average of 30 rounds per day of Rem UMC FMJ, it's cheap...I buy it by the case.
I carry Hornady Defenders in my carry mags, they run a little more, about 18 bucks for a box of 20.
I live in an isolated rural area with my own range.
I shoot daily and it comes as natural to me as booting up this PC and logging onto FR or my daily check of the security of the gates, the mouse traps in my shop, turning on the pool filter, etc.
I do recommend the Bersa...I realize it's not for every one, but it is a well made handgun even being manufactured in Argentina.
I've put well over 3000 rounds through one with no hiccups, no misfeeds, no misfires. In fact, it feeds and runs better than a Walther PPK I have. First shot is DA, the rest are SA...or you can thumb the hammer back for SA on the first shot and decock if not needed.
I do recommend the Mecgars magazine, though as opposed to the OEM Bersa mag.
Has a higher capacity and just seems to be made better.
I did replace the grips with my own design and aftermarket grips are available.
Not bad at all for less than 300 dollars.
Lol! My cheap 45acp Ruger fires any ammo flawlessly all day long while my brother’s fancy $1000 1911 doesn’t like anything but ballammo.
I carry a revolver when I’m where I might need a gun for selfdefense. Absolutely no chance of a jam.
LOL. Now I have that song stuck in my head.
Nothing beats that revolver. It’ll definitely knock them down.
Thanks for your thoughts and details on your Bersa. Forgot to ask about your choice of method of carry and what holster you use.
Recently bot a Taurus...709 Slim....Really like it too.

...
So this is a Bersa .380?
Yep.
Currently available (if you're a dealer) for 275 or so...the PX had them at one time for around 225.
Not a "knock him on his ass" round, I know, but put in the right place will do the job.
Custom made Kydex with quick-detach belt loops...'cause some folks get all upset about going into their place with a..., gasp!...GUN on their side.
Not that I particularly care about liberal paroxysms or their imminent strokes about a GUN!, but there are some I respect, that I visit regularly and do honor their desires.
Not necessarily liberals as I stay as far away from them as possible, but there are some that are just not worth the hassle, so I temporarily disarm.
The Kydex makes it easier.
It also does not soak up sweat, is lighter and much more form-fitting than leather.
Many gun shops have the capability to make one, now, for just about any gun out there.
Ebonics Thread Alert!
Glock makes 30 different models, but they’re all pretty boring. ;)
$799.00 when I bought mine, love it when my firearms go up in value.
I like the feel of the FN ,of-course I’m a 1911 guy. I’ve also have an AR57 a fun gun to shoot. 5.7x28 at 2800fps
