Cabinet Level Revolt Over Trump’s Treatment of Jeff Sessions... (Never Trumper)
The Resurgent ^ | July 25, 2017 | Erick Erickson

(Full title not posted because contains profanity)

“If he can get treated that way, what about the rest of us?” one of the President’s Cabinet secretaries asked me with both shock and anger in his voice. I am told reports about Rex Tillerson (not who I talked to) are legitimate. He is quite perturbed with the President’s treatment of his Attorney General and is ready to quit. Secretary Mattis (also not who I talked to) is also bothered by it. They and other Cabinet members are already frustrated by the slow pace of appointments for their staffs, the vetoes over qualified people for not being sufficiently pro-Trump, and the Senate confirmation pace.

In fact, the Cabinet secretary I talked to raised the issue of the White House staff vetoes over loyalty, blasting the White House staff for blocking qualified people of like mind because they were not pro-Trump and now the President is ready to fire the most loyal of all the Cabinet members. “It’s more of a clusterf**k than you even know,” the Cabinet secretary tells me about dealing with the White House on policy. It is not just Tillerson ready to bail.

Jeff Sessions was with President Trump early. He was the earliest member of the Senate and the earliest politician of his prominence to come out in support of President Trump. He had his back repeatedly, defended the absurd, and is in the mess he is in because he took on so many duties within the campaign to help the President when few even thought Trump could win.

NeverTrumpers are almost as notorious as the mainstream media in reliance on “anonymous sources”, which of course are just a reiteration of the “Deep Throat” of Watergate fame.

We don’t really know if there ever WAS a “Deep Throat”, and the the issue was never satisfactorily resolved. Nixon was bullied into resigning, because the accumulating innuendo was reaching overwhelming proportions.

While the NeverTrumpers are still trying to drum up the innuendo and rumors, there is still only smoke (most of which is being blown up everybody’s a**), and no identifiable source of that smoke.

Yeah, maybe he should bring in a few of the old staff writers from The Apprentice to create a new script for the WH. I think the show's unapologetically brash and sometimes abusive approach to treating people -- an approach that was highly successful over the show's 14-year run -- doesn't necessarily work so well in the "real world" of politics.

>> every cabinet member should be hauled into a press conference <<

Who is gonna do the hauling? The FBI? The Marine Corps under command of Gen. Mattis? Border patrol and other ICE personnel? DC National Guard? Armed members of the National Press Club?

Anyway, it’s kinda hard for me to imagine how the process might work.

Erickson is somewhat better than Stephen Hayes from The Weekly Standard but not much. Both are Never Trumpers. Last week Erickson surprised me with a positive tweet but I can’t remember. The thing is Trump has hired seemingly a lot of people that do not line up with him as well as left seemingly a lot in the job that disagree. I prefer some big bang coming that justifies the Sessions distraction but whatever. I hate for a nice man to be hurt but the job needs to be done well. WE will see. Still, Erickson is kind of a know it all and I don’t know if I buy his story wholly.

A) Trump is being subjected to a witch hunt.

B) He is not handling it well.

C) One of his biggest problems is that his staff consists of relatively few of his own. He must still rely on holdovers from the prior administration.

D) Another of his biggest problems is that with the attack on Sessions, we can feel the chill all the way down on the ground. He is making loyal workers less likely and opportunists who do not have his interests at heart more likely to apply. You can’t be part of a big hairy mess as a loyal worker and have that not look bad. On the other hand if you are engaging in sabotage, the bigger and hairier the mess, the more credit you get.

Reading the comments posted about this BS article, it never ceases to amaze me how supposedly well informed people that peruse this blog eat the shiite up that the marxocrat-driven and RINO-enabled media puts out about anything that matters.

Trump announces a press conference and tells all but one to be present. (Sessions can be the “designated survivor”). Then after it’s over he fires Sessions. Explains why he wasn’t present.

Yeah and corporate America is very different than the govt

I had a boss that use to call me out in public all the time. It was when he wanted to make a point to others who refused to listen to softer gentler reprimands. I knew what he was doing. He knew that I knew.

It worked to get other people’s attention

Erick Erickson is a greasy little toad with a two bit drive time radio talkshow in Atlanta. He has as much credibility as a tapeworm. I doubt anyone of substance would confide in him.

Reince Preibus is the presidents Chief of Staff and should be fired. This administration is starting to look like a cluster-blank.

Things are not the best right now for sure. The Russia probe has caused the problems the Dems hoped for, and the agenda is stalled.

I liked Reince, but honestly, I think a guy like Newt Gingrich would be a good chief of staff and could have helped get healthcare through.

I never trusted Reince and suspect he’s the mega-leaker.

I think Trump has a fundamental misunderstanding of politicians. Politicians do not crave fame; they crave power.

This makes sense. Trump used his fame as a club on all his political opponents during the election. He basically overwhelmed everyone with media attention and simple entertainment. He literally promised that everyone’s life will be better once he was elected.

But now that he has to govern, he seems to misunderstand the nature of politicians. Sessions could have stayed in the Senate until he was 90 with a steady progression of more and more power. McConnell would sacrifice family, fortune, and perhaps a goat in order to keep his position of Majority Leader. Ted Cruz decided at 15 that he was going to be president and every decision since that point has been to achieve that end. You could offer him a partnership in a Houston law firm that pays millions a year a he would laugh.

Trump seems to think that everyone wants to be part of the Donald Trump White House Show. Now that the everyone has seen what actually entails, I imagine it will be impossible to fill any role unless you go for the outsider syncophant types like Leandowski and Gingrich and Guiliani. Christie would probably take any lifeline at this point as well.
