Wasn’t there some deal where the FBI would take the intact drives, look for some limited range of information, then destroy the drives? There is so much BS flowing it’s difficult to track.

The Capital Police is not, and hasn’t really ever been, anything but an enforcement arm for the DNC. As they're proving once again. Back in the early 90's when I was working in politics, the number of stories about them taking Teddy Kennedy home after a bender after pulling him over were almost limitless.
