While Saudi Arabia’s economy is currently suffering from an 18-month decline in oil prices and soaring unemployment rates, they are planning for a future in which they won’t have to worry about the price of oil at all. Speaking of the plans outlined in Vision 2030, Saudi finance minister Mohammed Al Jadaan told CNN, "We will not really care much whether the price is 40, 45, 50, 55 at that time because we have gone significantly out of our way to be independent of the oil price...We are planning to totally [end] that dependency that we have been living for the last 40, 50 years. Hopefully by 2030, I wouldn't care if the oil price is zero."

The dog that didn’t bark during President Trump’s trip to Saudi Arabia, and during the conference of muslim nations, is that not a word was said about oil.

If they want to move into the modern world they will have to forgo Islam ... don’t expect anything more than more terror, more death, more taqyyia ...

Once the Saudis are fully established inside the Western world, they should become great assets in fighting Islamic terrorism.

The Saudi government (kingdom) has morphed into the value-added refining business.

The commodity “oil” can be sourced anywhere.

Follow the money.

Hmmm, Could it be that by 2030, the Saudi financed Muslim invasion of Europe will be completed, Non-Muslim Europeans will be paying Dhimmitude to their Muslim owners, and the Muslim invaders (Jihadists) will be able to repay the Saudis with interest?

By 2030 the water cut from the Ghawar field will render moot SA as a major oil exporter?

They are going broke because oil isn’t $100 a barrel and the frackers in the USA are strangling them and the Russians. Piss on the Saudi’s they screwed us over for 40 yrs. no sympathy here for any of these douche bags.

Well there is a new king. So maybe there will be some changes.

I watched some interviews with one of the young Princes and another who looked to be in his 40's-50s and they want to move into more industrialization instead of depending on oil. The older one said his wife attended college in the USA and that they would move towards westernization, albeit in "their own time". Once the current king is gone, I wager we will see a start towards those ends.

Granted it won't be an overnight deal, but Saudi will move in our direction.

Yep - I saw some interviews (one with a guy in his 40's/50's, and one with one of the young Princes that will have more sway once the aged king is gone. Seemed very promising.

LOL! I never expressed sympathy - just noted, from interviews I watched with a couple in the power chain as the old king fades away, that seemed promising as far as their move towards becoming part of the modern world as a country. If it happens, they will slowly transform from a scorpion biding its time to a potential asset.

Wait until the subjects start an uprising. He’ll care.

If he's smart, if that happens, he'll exterminate the devout and go with the flow of modernity (21st century vs 7th).
