Why Hillary can’t win
American Thinker ^ | May 8, 2017 | Thomas Lifson

Hillary Clinton's inability to honestly assess her 2016 election loss is turning slightly comic. And she will be the last to know. She has fallen into a trap of her own devising, feigning an honest self-assessment in public.

Salena Zito has emerged as one of the most tuned in journalists covering politics today. In an era of elitist journalists, Zito has an ear for the common folk of the de-industrializing Midwest. That is why she gained a degree of journalistic immortality more significant than a Pulitzer Prize for her election coverage of 2016, by summing up Donald Trump's relationship to his base and the media's inability to understand it....

Clinton lost the election because she failed to turn out her core voters in three states: Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

The Green Party got enough votes in each one of those states to give Clinton a majority - and the White House.

If Green Party voters in those states had any idea that Trump would win, I think most of them would have defected to Clinton.

The Libertarian Party also took votes away from Clinton.

The Libertarian presidential candidate publicly campaigned for Open Borders and Amnesty. William Weld, the vice presidential candidate, publicly said he would vote for Clinton if was not on the Libertarian ballot.

Up until the mid-1990s....the Democratic Party had some understanding of the people and land that lay beyond urbanized America. They could enter a US election and expect to take 40 to 50 percent of the non-urban vote. By the end of the Clinton-era, the Party was more or less fixated upon the idea of messaging strictly toward urban ‘topics’ or special interest groups. After that, they never crossed the 25-percent point in rural voting.

The Democrats (or Hillary) can still win an election...if they can get a mass vote situation with urban zones. But if they don’t get those votes out (as we saw in 2016), then you can’t win an Electoral College vote.

So if you move toward 2020 and 2024, unless you find another black candidate to generate a big urbanized showing at the ballot box, you lose. Or you can change the dynamics of your national strategy (not likely at this point).

I would toss in one other Hillary-problem....the Russians still hold her responsible for the meddling in their elections in 2011/2012. Even if she wants to run in 2020, they will return to pay back the debt to her for all the hassle generated in the Russian election.

“If Green Party voters in those states had any idea that Trump would win...”

For example: Ross Perot

Right. I recently read a piece on South Dakota politics. That state once had a strong Democratic Party and gave us George McGovern and Tom Daschle. Today there is not one Democrat holding state-wide office there.

Tom Daschle is a name that should be forgotten.

Wasn’t he the “Lexus or muffler”? guy?

Daschle was the one buying votes on Indian reservations with blankets and cigarettes. No word on whether firewater was also traded. Perhaps Elizabeth Pocahontas Warren knows.

Hillary is not the only loser who does not learn from the loss. After Romney lost to McLame in 2008 he knew it was his turn to be the candidate in 2012. But he did not prepare himself to be the candidate. Many local politicians, businessmen, athletes and competitors in any game never learn from their mistakes.

In contrast, Edison, Einstein, Trump and Belichick also had losses. But they learned from their mistakes.

Losers felt comfortable voting for the Greenies and Libertarians because the leftist “media” had already guaranteed that Clintoon was going to win in a landslide. The leftist “media” must accept some responsibility for Clintoon’s loss also. They kept telling the leftwing kooks that the fix was in for Clintoon.

Don't count on that. A lot of Bernie supporters defected to the Green Party and would not have voted for Hillary, due to the DNC cheating.
