1) Sweet Jane-Lou Reed 2) Theme from Shaft-Issac 3) Mellankamp-I need a Lover. Any others?

I’d vote for the intro to “Dance On a Volcano”.

Or Los endos

The beginning of Los Endos actually was from an out-take from A Trick of the Tail, called “It’s Yourself”.

“The Knife” is another good intro.

Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2.

Mozart's Overture to "Don Giovanni."

And for something a little more modern - "Change for the Better" by Journey on their Live from Manila concert.

"Piano intro to “Flight 505” on the ‘Aftermath’ album of the Stones.

Not in the top, but a cool intro for a then garage band.

Have to add Sunshine of Your Love by Cream. Simple hard driving guitar with Ginger Bakers’s unique double-bass drums. I and others have often thought that Led Zepplin’s Bonham drummer was influenced by Ginger Baker. I’m a drummer.

I kind of like the intro to Pink Floyd “The Dark Side Of the Moon”.

The guy who hasn’t been mentioned by name yet (unless I missed it) but who personally, easily had the greatest number of (hooks) intro licks, and who has been mentioned only second hand is non other than Keith Richards!
