What kind of human being would actually complain about this?

I went to a burial one time and a head stone I noticed looked like a move projector. It marked a documentary producer or something.

Yeah, but one of the articles shows a chunk of the cemetery and it would be kind of out of place there, it’s very traditional crosses and upside down Us. By the same token if you’re gonna have standards publish them, make sure people using your cemetery know them, make sure headstone makers know them so they can warn people off. A little communication can go a long way.

Well, I see a cross in the background.

Guess who is next?

I don’t understand why one complaint can cause problems for the majority. Horsewhipping the complainer is the better response.

We’re talking about a cemetery here.... it’s not your home. It’s not your work place. It presents no real problem for you if someone else erects a headstone that’s not your taste or preference. You go to the cemetery to honor and remember your relatives, not to serve as a landscaping critic.

I think the headstone is tasteless and ugly; but I agree; unless it is interfering with the grass-cutting machinery, why should another family get to lower the boom? If, in fact, it is out of compliance with existing rules of the township or of the cemetery itself, that is the fault of the cemetery for not making those rules clear in the burial contract, and they should compensate the bereaved mother.

We went through this over the placement of a small, flat plaque on our family plot to commemorate a deceased loved one whose ashes were scattered over a body of water, not at the cemetery. The cemetery agent failed to check the rules when he took our money; therefore we prevailed and the plaque stayed.

Marker was in the form of a star and I guess it bothered someone; plus it had the word “Soldier” on it so again it must have added to the horror that ONE person suffered.

I agree that the word "soldier" was probably the trigger. But the large granite teddy bear appearing to hug the star from behind was too much for me. Looked like a tombstone designed by Disney.
