A-10 Warthog Pilots giving a Little Pick me up Flyby
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 3/23/2017 | J Hines

If you’re a grunt and seeing an A-10 Warthog flying over your head its a pretty awesome feeling. When a grunt is in trouble, then it is a bless full sight.

In this sighting its a nice day in whatever Star Wars desert town basically in the middle of nowhere that these grunts had to patrol. This day no guns blazing, no bombs going off and this day things were chill.

If that wasn't enough, these grunts got treated to not one, but two Sic A-10 flybys. One went right up to them, banking very low over their position. The other was from further in the distance but did a nice dip before pulling out. Would have been nice to see some chaff flares deploying as the Warthogs do their pull out. Ok, we'll settle for the bad ass A-10 show here!

The ground is a great danger for the A-10 in light of their CAS role. But that has to be a rush for the pilot to swoop so low.

[[If you’re a grunt and seeing an A-10 Warthog flying over your head its a pretty awesome feeling. ]]

Even if you’re not a grunt- it’s still really awesome! Love the A-10’s and the flying gun ships (can’t remember what they are called now- but they have guns like the A-10- just more of em)

Seen lots of clips of these planes- they truly did strike fear into the enemy- and for good reason- simply awesome weapons

Why didn’t they send A10s to the Mideast to take out moving vehicles instead of using 500# and 2000# bombs?

No minimums in a combat zone.

I love Wart-Hogs too. I remember the first I ever saw one...you could hear him, but he had disappeared behind a hill. Couldn't tell where he was.....then all of a sudden he was right on your front teeth!!!

I just loved it.

It is awesome isn’t it? I didn’t have A-10’s buzz- but did have some military jets buzz pretty close when we were ice fishing once out on the really remote pond— truly awesome- mighta been F-18’s or a similar type jet- I don’t know jets too well- had the shape more of an F-18

I fished a lake in Maine, and F111's used to make runs on it - heard through the grapevine that the terrain was similar to that in the USSR.

Once, they buzzed the lake (and us), and I could have caught a ride with my flyline, if I'd been quick thinking enough. They were low. And loud.

We were fishin NY upstate at the time- mountainous terrain there too- Guess there was a base near the boarder there-

I remember back as a kid pilots used to break the sound barrier fairly often before the enviro nuts got all weak kneed about it— that was pretty cool too-

I grew up on property right on the Tittabawassee River, about 10 miles upstream from Midland, Michigan, and Dow Chemical Company.

I can remember, during the 60's and 70's, watching F-4 Phantoms screaming down the river at a very low altitude. I always thought that they were gaming an attack on Dow Chemical, following the river to it.

To be honest, I never knew, or found out, what they were actually doing, but it happened at least a couple of times every three or four months. Loud and low, with that characteristic black smoke coming out of the rear of the jets. Great stuff for a 10-year old.
