Thank you. I never would have guessed. Sounds like a tech startup for the skinny pants crowd.No, it is a word from the native Americans who lived (and still live) in the Philadelphia-Delaware area, the Leni Lenape indians. "Wawa" means Canada goose. The chain's logo has a goose flying over the letters. The chain was started from a dairy farm in the town of Wawa, about 20 miles outside Philadelphia on Rt 1.

Hope this helps. Wawa is the Lenape word for Canadian Goose. That’s why it’s in their logo. I believe the Lenape came up with “wawa” from the similar honking sound the goose makes.
