Rand Paul has an interesting solution to catch ‘deep state’ government leakers

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul over the weekend offered a unique solution to the problem of government leaks, which have plagued President Donald Trump’s administration in its first two months.

Speaking on ABC “This Week” Sunday, Paul suggested that to find the source of the leaks, such as the transcripts of conversations Michael Flynn had with Russian officials — which eventually led to his resignation — the Trump administration should conduct lie detector tests.

“It is very, very important that whoever released that go to jail because you cannot have members of the intelligence community listening to the most private and highly classified information and then releasing that to The New York Times,” Paul said.

“There can only be a certain handful of people who did that,” he explained. “I would bring them all in. They would have to take lie detector tests.”

“We need to get to the bottom of who’s releasing these highly classified conversations,” Paul added.

During the interview, Paul also said that when it comes to intelligence leaks and surveillance, there is at least one thing Americans can be sure of: that the Obama administration “did spy” on Flynn.

Paul also warned that if the intelligence leaks aren’t reined in, then the “deep state” will be in a position to blackmail presidents and national security advisers.

He seems to be working hand in glove with President Trump.

To not do what Paul recommends would be highly irresponsible.

Trump is looking like a eunich at this point.

Time to take matters in hand.

Polygraphs don't always work. I have a better solution based on ancient Roman practice - DECIMATION.

Cut the budget and fire one in ten CIA employees, selected at random.

If the leaks don't stop, move on tho the NSA, DIA, etc. one after the other until they get back around to the CIA. I have a feeling that by the time Trump works his way through all seventeen agencies the leaks will have stopped.

Too bad we can't perform the practice in the traditional Roman way. It would be much better for national security.

However lie detector tests are not reliable.

That’s correct. A polygraph works by measuring subtle physiological changes that typically occur during stress. Most normal people feel stress when lying.

Sociopaths don’t. Pathological liars don’t. They sail right through polygraphs.

Note that polygraph results are not admissible in court due to their unreliability.

Just offer a $100,000 reward for info leading to those who have leaked classified materials to the media. Subject these suspects to intense rendition techniques.

exactly.
many accomlished or routine liars (the ones you really want to catch!) sail right thru lie detector tests

and
some honest people get so nervous being electroded and questioned .. that they flunk LD Tests even tho they are truthful

these reasons are why LD tests are inadmissible in court and why a normal person should NEVER submit to LD testing, imho.
too much risk of error that could cause serious problems

“That’s correct. A polygraph works by measuring subtle physiological changes that typically occur during stress. Most normal people feel stress when lying. Sociopaths don’t. Pathological liars don’t. They sail right through polygraphs.”

And some people get stressed by being put on a polygraph, even though they are telling the truth.

Ex agency. Have taken many polys. Do they work perfectly - heck no. Are they an important tool that should be used - heck yes.

And being nervous isn’t much of a factor - that’s taken to account in your baseline.

The operator “calibrates” the polygraph by asking a false question and you are supposed to answer in the affirmative. Like is today Wednesday(actually it is Monday). You answer yes and the needles are supposed to bounce around.

It’s an old technology.. those that still wield it know the sociopaths that ‘sailed right thru’ and went on to be convicted or somehow never heard from again.

You could say it’s highest best use is identifying the *truth tellers*.

I suggested this weeks ago. Rand must be reading my posts.

Be sure to put 0bama at the top of the list of those needing to take lie detector tests.

Im surprised and happy how much Paul and Cruz have worked with.. in fact had the back of Trump since the election

Both Paul and Cruz are two legs of conservatism

Paul is libertarian conservative.
Cruz is conventional conservatism
Trump is the third leg of conservatism
Trump is populist conservatism

If the Federal Gov’t rank and file must take polygraphs on demand then so should the top brass. polygraphs are very reliable these days. They are not admissible but tell that to the lower level workers than are fired upon poor test results. Make the big shots take them also. Whats the difference if they don’t work well in a small percentage of cases. There are other ways to catch the bad guys.

Please don’t insult us by putting the Goldman Sachs-sponsored, crypto Deep Stater with the CFR/NAU wife in the same class with the primary defender of the Constitution left in Congress.

You would NEVER see Rand Paul take to the floor of the RNC and use a speaking spot to advocate that Republicans vote for Hillary Clinton, the way Cruz did.

As far as I’m concerned, Cruz’ career died on the spot.

The whole Fiorina thing, too... that was “psychotic break with reality” level stuff on the part of both Cruz and Fiorina. Naming a VP after being mathematically eliminated - you could write entire books on the abnormality of that psychology.
