I don’t think I would want one anyway. Just too short for a 1911. Now a Commander or Combat Commander would be fine.

I guess that's why he said, "While I love my 1911s, and I don't own any that can realistically be used for International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) or United States Pistol Shooting (USPSA) competitions. The reason is that I do not own target guns designed to be "race guns." I own basic close quarter self-defense guns. Yes, no frills self defense guns like the Colt Series 70 above."

Thought it might be something like word choice -- but I didn't want other forum readers to be confused... We're on the same page!

~~~~~~~~~~
What I would like to see is Constitutional Carry -- with a voluntary "training credit" course/card available -- to serve as ID and count toward a discount on carry/firearns liability insurance, etc. (Analogy: like "Defensive Driving" training counts for auto insurance discounts.)
During my "exile" in MA, I met far too many people who carried -- but, had never fired a weapon. Not good! I also found the TX CHL course to be valuable in the legal, safety, threat de-escalation, and shoot/don't shoot areas. And, I'd feel much safer if I knew every carrier was safety-trained and qualified with their piece... But I don't want it to be mandatory!
~~~~~~~~~

FWIW, I prefer concealed carry -- for both tactical and social reasons. But, I want to remove my "cover garment" at will. In fact, in certain "social" environments, I wear black slacks and a black turtleneck -- with a (black) M&P in a black IWB. Most folks don't seem to notice it when I take off my jacket. But, I did have one fellow say, "I didn't realize you were packing -- until I saw the white dots on your piece's sights!" LOL!

You're right on about the "bumps" -- strictly hysterical hoplophobe imaginings/propaganda -- that never, ever happen...

Peace, FRiend -- and good shooting!

Why do some folks even care what the “LAW” says?
I ask myself what is a registered weapon?
I don’t own any, never have, never will.
I come to a complete stop at all stop signs, even the ones out in the middle of nowhere, I have never robbed anybody or any business.
I have never assaulted anybody unless they felt froggy and jumped first, self defense is a God given right.
The right to bear arms is a God given and a Constitutional RIGHT.
The illegal alien elected assholes in Sacramento can write any rule or law they want while they hide behind their walls and armed guards, I will continue to ignore the ones that are just stupid or violate my GOD given CONSTITUTIONALLY protected rights to be a human being.

CA has a terminal case of ComDem Insanity.

You must suspend all sense of reality to not be alarmed there.

Last time I was there was about 10 years ago, bad then, has not improved, much worse since the ObamaNation.
