Anyone that has trained as a marksman in the military or law enforcement will remember that to quickly neutralize a bad guy. Was to aim your weapon at their facial area inside the T area.
Firing any caliber in the T area of the face will pretty much shut you down.
This T section wasn’t just taught to only snipers but to operatives and street cops, using your assault rifle and handguns. Drills were devised called “double tap” to the T box to quickly stop the threat.
One drawback from this type of implementation is that it is an extremely difficult shot and requires practice. This type of close quarter shooting and sniping is usually dedicated to the elite SWAT or operative from Special Forces. The budget requires more ammo for operative to be train to achieve a deadly level of competency.
The Mythical Head Shot Even though the T area is considered the most vulnerable part of the head. In reality other areas of the head shots do not stop an individual in their track. Center mass of the target presented. Bent over and rushing you... Center mass becomes top of head and back. Stand sidewise... Thighs to elbow.
The head is a small and difficult to hit target, unless the ranges are at those typical for police marksmen to engage (<75 yards).
Body armor does not stop rifle rounds, unless they strikes the small area covered by the ballistic plate. So, a center of mass aim point is preferable, even if the bullet strikes the plate. While the target is reacting to the energy of the first shot, let fly a second at less protected areas.
I’m only considering 5.56/223 and 7.62/308 terminal ballistics. A 300 Phoenix, 338 Lapua are entirely different—they permit extended ranges with increased energy. The 408 CheyTac or 50BMG are effective even against Ironman, contrary to hollywoords depictions.

It’s the difference between a defensive face-to-face shooting (center of mass) and a sniper’s shot. One is done under great stress, the other under slightly cooler circumstances by a more skilled operator with a highly accurate weapon.
Some people are just all ass. Certain “celebrities” pop to mind.
If close, keep your weapon waist high and point toward the hip, either side of the d!ck.
They will drop like a sack of potatoes, ending the threat for easy follow-up.
Even with a vest.
