W. Lewis Amselem, long time US Foreign Service Officer; now retired; served all over the world and under all sorts of conditions. Convinced the State Department needs to be drastically slashed and reformed so that it will no longer pose a threat to the national interests of the United States.

And for those who did not read the whole text:

Is there foreign interference in our elections? You bet.

The biggest offender? Not Russia, but Mexico. Mexican officials publicly called on Mexicans in the US to oppose Trump; Mexico's over fifty--yes, fifty--consulates in the US (here) are hot beds of political activity and activism. Millions of illegal and legal aliens largely from Mexico and Central America vote, yes vote. We need to have an in-depth investigation into Mexico's interference in our elections, an interference that goes well beyond revealing embarrassing DNC texts.

There. That's an investigation the GOP should endorse, and the new SecState should take up the issue of Mexican interference in our elections.

If Mexico, in fact, refuses to take back deportees, then we would need to take additional action such as shutting down our visa issuance in Mexico, kicking out their ambassador from Washington, closing down the border crossing for periods of time, and even halting remittances to Mexico

Whatever it takes.

We also have to act against the US fifth column (liberal judges, lawyers, officials, academics) who will do all they can to aid the enemies of America.

Mexican officials, including their diplomats in the US, are seeking to "jam" US courts with contested deportations.

That may not be an 'act of war' per se, but it's damned close.

The beaners really need to think long/hard about escalating this . . .

This really does need to be Bumped to the Top, and given some close consideration by the new President and his team. This article is zero ON TARGET, and living myself in Mexico, what is being said, is what is happening. Miss America falls on the floor in the contest of Miss Universe, and all the Mexicans laugh and scorn, when soccer teams play, it is always a toxic atmosphere. They definitely have carried a large chip on their shoulder, and been taught all through their school years that the USA robbed half of their territory. It would be nice to be civil, and work toether to solve problems along a 2,000 mile border.

50 consulates? 50 consulates? Are you kidding me?

Canada has 12 consulates and 3 trade offices.

That’s the BIG problem - the Mexicans think that the SW United States belongs to them.

There does need to be a full investigation, consulates closed down, Operation Wetback from the 1950’s ramped back up again, cut off govt funds for illegals, build the wall, etc, etc.

Time to get tough with the Mexicans before there is another full-scale war with Mexico.

Mexico is so not our friend. Only a fool would think otherwise. Send them all packing, all Mexicans. End NAFTA.

How many Canadians in the US vs how many Mexicans?
The Mexican coverage ratio may actually
be low.

FIFTY CONSULATES..?!

That’s LUDICROUS..! Those are not consulates.

They should have an Embassy and maybe 2, 3 Consulates.

SHUT DOWN these numerous un-licensed legal aid centers.

There’s a private sector for that.

I just Googled it:

- The USA has TEN Consulates + Embassy in all of Mexico

- 50 Mexican Consulates in the USA is the #1 highest of ANY country in the world in any OTHER country in the world. There are 195 countries in the world.

THOSE ARE GUERILLA OPERATION CENTERS.

They need no more facilities here than we have there.

CLOSE THEM DOWN.

Mexico started the Mexican American war. We won it AND paid them 50 million in gold for land we won. We then PURCHASED the south portion of Arizona per the Gadsden Purchase.

This looney idea that Mexico should get the Western portion of the US back is propagandize in the schools, on Mexican talk shows and novellas.

My grand-uncle was promoted to Captain in the NYNG, 2nd Field Artillery and mustered into Federal service for the Mexican Punitive Expedition on June 30, 1916 - a bit more than 100 years ago.

Our options are not limited to taxing remittances.

We also need to stop giving any federal funding to radical groups like La Raza. There are many but don’t know all the names off the top of my head. Those radical groups organize and support the idea that the SW part of the U.S. belongs to Mexico and fully support open borders and illegal immigration. They lobby Congress to get laws changed in order to support their interests. Those groups organize the protests, provide legal assistance to illegals, feed propaganda to our elected officials and the media. Most get some sort of federal grants in support of diversity or some such nonsense.

We the taxpayers are paying for so much of the destruction of our own country and it needs to all end.

They are in a position such that we are sending NG to keep their lights on, as their fields are in steep decline. Pemex competence is only a step above Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A.

>>I have been in Mexico many times both on vacation and for work as a US diplomat. I know Mexico well,...<<

Native Texan, I've been to Mexico many times as well. Cancun on vacation and many of the border towns...Lemmie tell’ya, it's a damn dangerous place.

Third world in every way. Water unsafe, open sewage, TB, lice, crime, drugs, prostitution, food not safe unless tailored specifically for Americans.

We attempt to change governments all across the globe, thousands of miles away, but neglect a country in our own backyard that impacts our nation MUCH more than a place like Iraq. I don't get it.

OUTSTANDING essay! Agree 100% and I love his prescribed actions. Thanks for posting this. I can see Trump executing the author’s plan to the letter.

Mexico also has a strong leftists media like we do. They even have the same Hollywood type commercials with their actors doing 4 word bites on leftist ideas. Copied straight out of, and probably paid for, by Hollywood.

Their news media is as fake as ours. I would bet we could find George Soros money and activity down there too, influencing the masses.
