The Collapse of the Left
Of Two Minds ^ | 22 January 2017 | Charles Hugh Smith

Posted on 01/25/2017 2:03:43 PM PST by Lorianne

The Left is not just in disarray--it is in complete collapse because the working class has awakened to the Left's betrayal and abandonment of the working class in favor of building personal wealth and power.

The source of the angry angst rippling through the Democratic Party's progressive camp is not President Trump--it's the complete collapse of the Left globally. To understand this collapse, we turn (once again) to Marx's profound understanding of the state and capitalism.

We turn not to the cultural Marxism that is passingly familiar to Americans, but to Marx's core economic analysis, which as Sartre noted, is only taught to discredit it.

Cultural Marxism draws as much from Engels as Marx. In today's use, cultural Marxism describes the overt erosion of traditional values--the family, community, religious faith, property rights and limited central government--in favor of rootless Cosmopolitanism and an expansive, all-powerful central state that replaces community, faith and property rights with statist control mechanisms that enforce dependence on the state and a mindset that the individual is guilty of anti-state thinking until proven innocent by the state's own rules.

You did eh?

Well we can always hope, but the left currently controls the schools, most of the courts, the cities, the universities and the media as well as three quarters of the countries on earth.

So I would like to see a little more comprehensive collapse.

I remember Carville predicting the end of the GOP in 2008.

I’m sure the Rats will some day win elections again, I have no doubt about that. However, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen them in a funk quite like this.

Trump may very well take Labor away from the Rats, and if that happens, they are dead meat.

They’ve promised every little self-interest group in their coalition (Blacks, Gays, Hispanics, Feminists, Environuts, etc.) that they are going to be Top Dog in the pecking order.

Now they’ve all come to collect, and the Democrats can’t pay up.

Like Zero Mostel overselling the show in The Producers.

This is simply a battle victory in a much larger war.

While the Democrat party is having issues right now, their Lefty handlers are not.

We’d do well NOT to underestimate them. They’ve been at this game unchecked for over a hundred years now, and have demonstrated time and again that they are out to outlast us. They have an unbroken line of psychosis all the way back to Marx and Engels, which they propagate through the colleges and universities.

Their disarray is temporary, at best, and taking it at face value as “collapse” is extraordinarily foolish.

What we’re seeing as a win, THEY see as a setback. Lenin said in his 1904 book, “One Step Forward, Two Steps Back”, on the road to any eventual goal, there must be a temporary step backward.”

That’s all this is to them.

Their definition of peace is “the absence of opposition to our goals”. Translation: They’re in a perpetual state of WAR with us.

We’d do well to understand that and act accordingly towards them, in defense of all we hold dear.

Disaray is hardly collapse.

Dont let anything throw you off guard or assume they are down.

Well, I wonder what took them so long to figure that out... Kennedy, Boxer, Pelosi, Feinstein, etc, etc,...

” ... temporary step backward.” That’s all this is to them.”

Certainly true. However, this time around, I think we are in a position where we can *really* fight back. We seem to have our pieces lined up where we can deliver a serious blow to the left that’ll cripple them for a LONG time.

Reagan was the left’s last setback. They recovered after 4 years of HW Bush and have made strides sicne then.

Assuming the GOP is on board with Trump, they need to start turning all of their gains at the State level into Federal House and Senate seats. The GOP has the opportunity to crush the Democrats in 2018. All Trump has to do is deliver on promises (i.e. execute). The GOP can then parlay the executive success stories into securing more House and, more importantly, more Senate seats to deliver *real* substantial, significant change leading into the 2020 election (not the “hope-n-change” hell we’ve lived through these past 8 years).

There’s certainly going to be plenty of wildcards played both at home and abroad between now and then. Still, overall, I like where we are at right now. While I always suspected Obama would be replaced with a Republican, after the 2008 and 2012 elections I never thought in a million years we’d have someone seemingly dedicated to restoring the USA and outright defeating the left in a rather short period of time.

So, yes, while we have have to remain cognizant of the fact that the left doesn’t want to die, we also have to recognize the opportunity before us, fire up the troops, and take a shot at winning this thing so that we don’t have to listen to the merits of socialism/communism in this country for a long, long time :-). That involves risk, of course, but I can’t think of any other time in recent history where we have some decent odds to win this thing for the long haul.

“I would like to see a little more comprehensive collapse.”

I think we will. This article mainly talks about the Left politically losing credibility with the working class - causing them to start losing elections.

But beyond that, they will begin facing big budget cuts, followed by criminal prosecutions. Much of their infrastructure lives directly off of the public treasury, or indirectly through kickbacks from billionaires and unions, who are granted favors or funds worth much more than they spend.

Obama exploded funding to the Left like never before - and it appears that Trump will try to cut them back deeper than the last several decades of their growth. If he is successful, many (maybe most) professional leftists will have to find new careers. Some can be reabsorbed into other organizations, but the total number of paid positions is likely to plummet. There will necessarily be some resulting chaos within their ranks, from the loss of all that direction.

Rule of law seriously endangers some of their main coordinating mechanisms. The Clinton Foundation and Media Matters are rife with financial fraud. George Soros organizations like Black Lives Matter engaged in violent crime and conspiracy to commit crime - perhaps even subject to RICO. Planned Parenthood has been shown to routinely engage in Federal felonies by selling human organs on the black market. The Muslim Brotherhood front groups are at risk of being outlawed soon as terrorist supporters. Even their street thug anarchists are already no longer getting away with riot, assault and vandalism like they were just a week ago.

There is no honor among thieves. Many that were enriched by crony deals will keep the money when times get hard. The real ideologues will burn through their hoards much more quickly, when they have to fund their causes with their own money.

Let’s keep watch to see when their knees start to buckle, because the Left is going to be getting their body worked hard this year.

Brilliant, easily understandable and irrefutable analysis. Thanks for the heads up. Am posting to my Facebook page right now!

The Left owns: The Schools, The Media, The Arts, and far too many of the churches.

Unless conservatives seriously pay attention to the culture our nation is doomed....yet....I see little interest on the part of conservatives.

Even here on Free Republic a thread about schools will get 30 responses if we're lucky. A thread on the political issue of the day will run a 100 or more.

Man,

If I were on a talking head news show with Carville, I would whip that out and put it on the desk right in front of him, but say nothing.
