Speaking at an event organized to oppose President-elect Donald Trump’s agenda in Washington, D.C. Thursday, American Federation of Teachers President Elizabeth “Liz” Davis said that Betsy DeVos, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Education, is more frightening than the Ku Klux Klan.

“Of course, you know that there are some scarier things that are coming up … one of them is Betsy DeVos,” Davis said. “That frightens me more than the Klan, because Betsy DeVos is a multi-mega millionaire who has managed to buy her way to a position of influence that could actually change the face of what we know public education to be, and what we want it to be in this country.”

I had to look her up and see who was screaming this nonsense.

Liberals are hysterical drama queens. But then, we all knew that.

Couldn’t have said any better. The KKK is IRRELEVANT and have been for a long, LONG time now. Actually I take that back — it is liberals’ biggest weapon.

You’re right; they are diluting the meaning of those terms to the point where respectable people could be flattered with those hurled at them.

The resistance to Trump generated by teachers unions parallels resistance to Trump done by African-American leaders: in each instance purses are threatened. Ideology is put on parade but the motivation is actually financial

The teachers union supplies a voting block and, more importantly, campaign contributions to Democrats politicians who in turn vote public money to teachers.

Black politicians and community leaders are in the business of selling African-American votes wholesale in exchange for dependency payments. In the process the politicians gain a sinecure and the community leaders get their rake off.

Donald Trump threatens the teachers union by support of the voucher system which is a strategy calculated to destroy teachers unions by substituting merit for cronyism, political correctness and seniority. He threatens the African-American politicians and community leaders by attacking the bogus assumptions about discrimination and victim mentality which keep a hold on the nearly monolithic African-American block vote and by threatening to actually destroy dependency with actual jobs.

This is why we see so many Democrats House Members boycotting Trump' s inauguration, they must reinvigorate the dependency and victimhood mentality of the ghetto. Like the teachers unions, they must attack the legitimacy of the new administration which threatens their rice bowls.

I was an educator from 1968 - 2002. Some of my fellow instructors I considered to be “unteachers”. They were able to lower their students test scores in only one or twp semesters. These were often the teachers honored by union officials.

This woman is a threat to society and a reason why ALL public employee unions should be decertified as bargaining units.

I've always thought that 2 of the best things that could happen to education would be dissolving the Fed department of education and the teachers unions.

In my 30 years of teaching I don't think I ever heard a fellow teacher or school administrators talk about what a great job the federal department of education was doing. In fact, it was usually the opposite, “I can't believe what the feds are making us do now! Have these people EVER taught school?” So it's interesting to see all the Facebook posts from my teacher friends demanding Trump appoint someone who will protect the status quo the have railed against.

The federal government trying to create policies that apply equally to urban, suburban, rural, big, and small districts in every region of the country shows why the Founders were so smart not to give any role in education to the federal government. They reserved education to the states, having faith that locals could better address their needs instead of a one size fits all policy created by someone a thousand miles away.

Over the years the Washington Teachers Union has gone from “Red” under comrades Bill Simon, David Elsila and Charley Chang or Cheng, to just plain “brain dead”, and the kids still can’t read, writer, or speak understandable English.

Nuff said!

Yikes! That is very, very bad! Does anyone remember the key ruling due out from the Supreme Court against the Calif Teachers Union prior to Scalia’s untimely or some would say timely death?
