The linked article elaborates a wee bit on the two bloody wars the Scots fought in the 13th and 14th centuries. And it's true, there is renewed interest in romanticized 18th century Scottish history due, as well, to the recent and successful cable production of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series of books . . . .now an elaborate sci-fi/fantasy series on Starz cable television.
"Starz Outlander" is now filming it's third and fourth seasons of production. The series is an adaptation based on Diana Gabaldons first of several related novels "Outlander"
Executive Producer is Ronald D. Moore. The broadcast premiere was on August 9, 2014.
This cable series was honored with a Critics Choice Most Exciting New Series Award for 2014 on June 9, 2014.
The Starz OUTLANDER TV Series won the Peoples Choice Award for the Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show in 2015 as well as in 2017...
- FAVORITE PREMIUM SCI-FI/FANTASY SERIES, Outlander won against Game of Thrones, Marvels Luke Cage, Sranger Things, & Westworld.
- FAVORITE TV SHOW 2017 against The Big Bang Theory, Greys Anatomy, Stranger Things, & The Walking Dead
- Both leads, Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall Frazer) and Sam Heughan (Jamie Frazer) won PCA for FAVORITE SCI-FI/FANTASY TV ACTRESS/ACTOR as well.
This award winning series claims many more accolades for author, Diana Gabaldon's exhaustive series of books related to Outlander as well.
