A land inhabited by a hardy breed of Celts whose history is rich with romantic stories of bravery and heroic struggles for freedom—a land so full of legends and myths, it’s sometimes difficult to separate true history from the romanticized version. During the 13th and 14th centuries, the Scots fought two bloody wars with their neighbor to the South, England, in Scotland’s struggle for independence. In recent years there has been a renewed interest about Scottish history, thanks in large measure to Mel Gibson’s film Braveheart and the fascinating story about Scottish warrior and hero, Sir William Wallace, aka, “Braveheart.” . . .

". . . .history is rich with romantic stories of bravery and heroic struggles for freedom—a land so full of legends and myths, it’s sometimes difficult to separate true history from the romanticized version.". . .

The linked article elaborates a wee bit on the two bloody wars the Scots fought in the 13th and 14th centuries. And it's true, there is renewed interest in romanticized 18th century Scottish history due, as well, to the recent and successful cable production of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series of books . . . .now an elaborate sci-fi/fantasy series on Starz cable television.

"Starz Outlander" is now filming it's third and fourth seasons of production. The series is an adaptation based on Diana Gabaldon’s first of several related novels "Outlander"

Executive Producer is Ronald D. Moore. The broadcast premiere was on August 9, 2014.

This cable series was honored with a Critics’ Choice Most Exciting New Series Award for 2014 on June 9, 2014.

The Starz OUTLANDER TV Series won the People’s Choice Award for the Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show in 2015 as well as in 2017...
