Peter Thiel, the Silicon Valley billionaire and outspoken Donald Trump supporter, is considering a 2018 bid for California governor, according to three Republicans familiar with his thinking.

Thiel, who co-founded PayPal and was an early investor in Facebook, has been discussing a prospective bid with a small circle of advisers, including Rob Morrow, who has emerged as his political consigliere.

Morrow has worked at Clarium Capital, the San Francisco-based investment management firm and hedge fund that Thiel started.

I live in OC socal. Jerry Brown has plagued us since the 70s. He’s spending billions on a bullet train to nowhere and thinks if we FUp our states economy bad enough the oceans will recede and “mother earth” will begin to cool. Such a tool. The only thing he hasn’t ruined is the weather, no insects, low humidity, sunshine etc.

I sure hope he does. California is a Republican wasteland. There isn’t one Republican with statewide name recognition.

Picture the 2020 GOP Convention in Sacramento as the state comes back to us. Wasting money on a railroad. Where’s the $$ if there’a major earthquake(overdue) or heaven forbid a tsunami?

The choice is very simple...Peter Thiel may be gay, but he has hugely supported Trump and he himself has been a very successful businessman. It is time to ignore the sexual preference of politicians, as long as their sexual preference do not influence their ability to do the job honorably and in line with traditional principals. They are separable, and if he can do that, so be it...support him as long as he keeps his private life private.

Newsom will win and become an instantly credible Presidential candidate. He’ll attract the same crowd that Trudeau got in Canada.

As a Californian he would get my vote. Sadly my commie, fascist, totalitarian state made up on mentally ill, comatose, extreme liberal zombies are just that and no longer (if they ever did) use their heads or hearts. We can only push for and exploit, and CREATE another variation of the Trump effect.

PayPal was sold like 15 years ago. I know eBay had it for a long time. I quit using long ago when a firearms accessories website I used a lot had their account taken away.

Ultimately, it’s about getting out the vote especially when it’s an off-year election.

Genius. I can hear Trump now, “You know, Peter, you’d make a great governor...”

The Donald has a Republican House and a Republican Senate (sort of).

What would Governor Peter Thiel have in California? How would Governor Thiel look after a term in office?

Republicans already beat the Dems to the punch with the 1st Hispanic Governor of California back in the 19th century... Romualdo Pacheco.

It’s a huge downside. Even if CA elected a Conservative GOP Governor, it has a viscerally corrupt ultraleftist Democrat supermajority legislature.

Didn’t know that Thiel was separate from PayPal.

All the better.

Maybe I could sneak into California, amidst all the rabble, and commit voter fraud in his favor.

I’d vote for him.

He showed me that he cares about the average citizen. He talked about so many of our factories shutting down.

He’s a big-picture guy. He’s not just a petty one issue guy. The big picture is a robust economy, security, and freedom.

Interesting...

For years we heard "why aren't our best and brightest running" bla bla bla ( especially from the DNC ). And then they asked Lee Iococca to run, he looked at it and said, it is too broke, I can't fix it.

So finally in DJT we had someone with that type of background, and not some slip and fall atty hack up through the ranks ( the Schumer's of the world ) that haven't been in the belly of the beast their whole life playing us with their 3 card monty, and that goes for both sides of the Uni-Party.

So with that said, does anyone see what DJT has done here?

He has opened the door for leaders from the private sector with a can do CEO mind set of goals, objectives, & Metrics that determine success or failure, not a never ending project ( at the state and federal level ) that would make the F-35 look like a simple washer fix on your faucet.

D.C. IMHO has no idea as to the internal self examination exercises coming their way, aka Demming, Six Sigma etc.

Mr Thiel is probably one of many that are tired of seeing Lansing, Boston, Sacramento ( and other state houses ) run like a Soviet Union breadline.

The Legislature in CA will at somepoint have to pull a cranal-rectal-otomy as I don't see Thiel as a shrinking violet, fix it dang it or the voters will toss ya, that paradigm is coming, once people see tangible results from DJT and Company.

A Republican governor in Cali would be very helpful in 2020. Peter Thiel would be perfect.
