[1.14.17 – COMMENTS FROM DONNA GARNER: Donald Trump has done a brilliant job of choosing talented and successful people to serve in the other cabinet positions – all except for his choices for the U. S. Dept. of Education.
Betsy DeVos has been vitally involved in driving Common Core into our nation’s schools, and now it seems that another Common Core advocate may be chosen as the Deputy Secretary of Education, Allan B. Hubbard.
Similar to Betsy DeVos, Mr. Hubbard has long been in league with Jeb Bush, the National Governors’ Association, the Chamber of Commerce, the Lumina Foundation, the Council of Chief School Officers, and others to force the destructive, dumbed-down, anti-American, Common Core philosophy of education into almost every school in our country.
It is such a shame that Donald Trump is not listening to the moms and pops of America who sit with their frustrated children each night and see the “garbage” that their children are being forced to consume in their Common Core-compliant curriculum.
I believe Pres. Elect Trump genuinely wants to rescue the schools of America, but he is choosing the wrong people to do it.]

Pretty sure that DeVos has changed her mind on Common Core! I think even one of the architects, Bill Bennett, is in the process of changing his mind on it.
The elites never sleep. The links to CHOICE & Jeb are not good news. “Choice” was written all over in #ESSA and if CHOICE via states is passed then we have the piece they wanted. A charter school explosion that will wipe out private and public ed system. Sounds good huh?
Then, we realize the charters cannot be subjected to regs/ oversight and have no elected school boards yet use our tax dollars...um ...trouble.
The entire Department of Education should be dismantled and thrown away.
Let education fall back to the jurisdiction of the states and the local governments.
Doesn’t matter. What does she have, other than money, to recommend her other than her past positions and advocacy work?
There is no excuse for having allied with Jeb on common core and education.
“Let our children go” and be free of this curriculum that is now laden with untruths, anti-American sentiments, and methods that are dummying down even the most brilliant.
Students tell me their teachers have indicated to them that even they don’t understand it. Massive numbers of students in our area are enrolled in special education classes and/or in-school tutoring.

So Donna Garner thinks that if President Donald Trump tells these people to end Common Core they won’t do it?
Whom does she want appointed? There is a place on the Transition web site to apply for positions. Had she done that?
truer words never spoken my friend. We are trying to raise awareness that the ones who created the CRISIS in PUBLIC EDUCATION are the same ones running in to solve it. Not good. ESA’s in Nevada have been pushed and the homeschoolers came out in force. There is so much trickery going on it is hard to get people to see the schema.
The short of it is this ESSA passed at Christmastime in 2015-over 1K pages laid the foundation to create portable regulations that include Communist Core by another name. As families “accept” the $ they also accept the regs and mind-numbing stipulations.
I doubt that Fedzilla will give $ to middle-class they will choose who and what is taught in the classes. Not really CHOICE is it?

Horrible. Not only is this guy a Bushie, but he is on the board of the Lumina Foundation. Here is just a snippet from its strategic plan, which combines vacuous education talk with a call for more spending, largely based on closing the “attainment gap” for minorities:
“...the key state role in postsecondary education—and the source of state’s potential influence
over the results we get from the postsecondary learning system—stems from its role as funder. State
funding is still the cornerstone on which public postsecondary education is based, but it needs to adapt
so that it offers the kind of incentives that students and institutions need to increase attainment.
Lumina has played a key role in the development of outcomes-based funding, and we will continue to
press for the implementation of next-generation approaches across the states. Outcomes-based funding
can help increase student success and close equity gaps in attainment when systems are designed

If Hubbard is mischaracterized as badly as they have DeVos then they are off the rails
They are pointing out what they support. It is not that hard. They are not the people needed to repeal ESSA, Eliminate Fed Led Ed-they have an agenda and their associations and track record point to no other conclusion.
I do not see our kids getting relief anytime soon.
The totalitarians are gonna win on this an entire generation fed outcomes-based communal thinking patterns.
Dept of Ed, HUD, ATF, need to go.

Common Core...it just got approved in AZ! Hate that curriculum!!
I read a couple of articles about DeVos when she got chosen by Trump. It was clear that she inititially thought C.Core was a good idea, but after she learned more about it, rejected it. She does not support it at all.
I have no idea about Hubbard, never heard of him before now.
