A well-respected veteran Rockette is urging members of the famed dance troupe to put politics aside and do what they do best by kicking up a storm at the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
The only thing the Rockettes should be focused on is performing for our nation and helping unite us all with the joy, love, beauty and strength for which they are famous, says Patty DeCarlo Grantham, a retired member of the world-famous troupe.
Grantham, president of the 552-member Rockette Alumnae Association, says she cringed when controversy erupted last week over plans to have the Radio City Music Hall dancers perform during the festivities surrounding Trumps Jan. 20 swearing-in.
Grantham was specifically upset over ex-Rockette Autumn Withers urging the troupe, famed for their high-kicking in unison, to boycott the inaugural.
We are all aware how contentious this election has been for our country, Grantham wrote in an email to the Madison Square Garden Co., which owns Radio City....

Shut up and show your undies.
So—A couple of self-centered twits have tarnished the reputations of the Rockettes and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Nice going.
who the heck cares to see “The Rockettes” anyway?
Playing "politics" will most certainly result in the demise of the Rockettes because they are partisan and thus, not trustworthy.
When one hires entertainers they want them to do what they do best, dance. Rockettes are not good at politics because it is too fluid to follow. No one wants to see a demonstration by professionals spending time on half cooked ideas instead of concentrating on their dancing.
Trump from NYC holds power now, to bring benefits to his home town. I do not mean in any corrupt way.
Residents should be proud to have a President from there, just as I did with Presidents from California; namely San Clemente where Nixon made his Western WH and then Reagan in California.
We are becoming less united as citizens, unfortunately.
I would like to hear the background of the protestor.
Guaranteed idiocy, dirt, failing grades, marshmallow major, or any set of these.
Disregard the idiotess.
I do not care if ANYONE from the Hollywood/LA/NYC entertainment industry performs. Have the bands from the military; country/western musicians; or Christian/gospel musicians do all of the entertainment.
The problem is, there is a narrative about Trump devised by the Clinton Team that has poisoned people’s perception of Trump. It is the most ugly hyperbole of misinformation that can be devised by people of ill will. The media does its best to perpetuate the misinformation and no one has sought to disprove it chapter and verse. The basic narrative is that Trump is a racist, sexist, homophobe, xenophobe, Islamaphobe and provoked violence at his rallies. Each one of these tags requires a very thoughtful rebuttal because it would be very difficult to overcome the deep roots that the media has established. The Rockets should be sat down and given a debriefing from the narrative that has so poisoned their thinking. Someone like Stephen Miller would be the one I would pick to do it.
Liberals poison the water wherever they go.
It should be a simple, short, solemn affair, maybe 30 minutes tops, including speeches, and done.
The Washington Post wrote a major page 2 story about the single dancer who didn’t want to perform at the inauguration.
Meanwhile 5 people were shot or knifed in DC and got a combined total of about 12-16 column inches.
You know where the WaPo’s head it at.
Media and the fascist left’s identity politics are responsible. It will take some doing, but we can defeat them.
People are going to look at the Rockettes and suddenly realize that they are anachronistic and Politically Incorrect.
They should be as quiet as possible and continue to rake in money from tourists with their New York shows. Instead they are diving into Left Wing Politics. How long will it be before the PC monster turns to devour them? It is as predictable as the Sunrise.
New York will Move On from the Rockettes in a heartbeat. Once they are universally condemned and derided by the New York Smart Set, even the yokels will begin to notice.
My sentiment, too. I do not care at all about rockettes.
If quals for dance hall girl are very similar to those of a politician, but if can discern them maybe you should just stick with politics.
I can only imagine where my next pay check would come from if I publicly denounced my employers intentions to further their business.
Are these dancers is some kind of high kickers union that forbids the boss from handing out pink slips to idiots on the dole?
