I’m afraid I might have been like my mother but my husband played by his own rules.
When we were kids, my mother and my younger sister were like gasoline and fire, they were always at each other, and if you could say a parent and child hated each other, they came close at times.
When we really wanted to get my sister’s goat, we would say “You are going to be just like mom when you grow up!”
My sister’s eyes would bulge out of her head, and you could see the explosion coming.
She turned out just like my mom. Not a bad thing! (My sister laughs about it now)
Everybody has a right to be who they are, in every day life and in a relationship. But we have to be ready to accept the consequences for being ourselves.
