SHOULD I SPEND 100 DAYS IN THE CAPITOL?

Posted on 12/06/2016 8:29:52 PM PST by DIRTYSECRET

Retirement dittos! I was just thinking I COULD GO to the confirmation hearings and watch Chuck Yu Schumer and the other girlie-men act out. It would cost but you only live once. Should I wait until Feb. 1 or be there on Jan 21? Would it be better to stay home and watch whatever cspan chooses to broadcast? Talk to me.

Seriously, C-SPAN will televise all the hearings - not sure you can get a seat at any or all of them. Lived here all my life, never seen security so tight before. Relatives in town recently, traffic was terrible. Metro is ok, but weather forecast for January is colder than normal with storms as well.

I saw Bush Jr.’s second swearing in ceremony.

It’s cold on the Mall in January, but it’s worth it.

Of course you should go. View history in the making, first hand.

That said, driving in D.C. is not easy, and parking is not cheap, and it will be cold and miserable, and there is a small but genuine risk of a terror attack.

It would help a lot if you knew someone who lived there. If not, there are plenty of D.C. tours/events/lectures, and plenty of (expensive) restaurants on K Street with bars. D.C. is full of smart people. I hope you get along with lawyers.

Beware of con men/women. Beware of anyone who tells you they work for the CIA.

I’m going to try to make it to the inauguration; just for the day. After the event, I’m going to visit my favorite landmark, the Air & Space museum.

There’s actually TWO Air and Space museums. The one at Dulles airport is probably bigger and includes the Discovery Space Shuttle

The people from India love him. Not worried about China. Trump is taking advantage of their problems.

Stay home. Much more comfy. If it gets to you you can turn it off and do something pleasant or see a friend. You also can stay armed. I don’t disarm for anyone.

Bring your boots and parka in case there is a heavy January snow. The ocean is not that far away and weather conditions are sometimes right to bring in a lot of moisture.

Our next door neighbors have an invite to the inaugural ball. The wife worked in the Trump campaign in Ohio.

The more bodies between Trump and the promised protesters the better.
