Doesn’t matter to me, I’m still planning on homeschooling.

I hope that Trump will soon come to realize that the federal government has no business in education. That’s a state issue, period.

Getting rid of the Department of Education would be a good start. Is Trump bold enough to take that action?

FedGov has no authority to involve its self in education.

I don’t have time to listen to the file. However I have been trying too warn people about DeVos and how she might be a Faustian bargain. Today I hear the DeVos family is a large donator to GLEP ( Great Lakes Education Project) and guess what they are Pro-Common Core. My gut feel over a year ago told me Trump would win, my gut feel is telling me this was not a good move nominating Mrs DeVos.

For now, his plan is a giant step in the right direction. he also stated a desire to let States control curriculum instead of the Feds - that's a step in moving the government out of the business.

Taken in small bites, w/o covering other details can make any good thing sound bad. If the Feds stop funds cold, schools would be in such disarray it would be nuts. Gonna take a few steps to get the huge teachers' union out of power and weed out those who only have their jobs because of the union.

Some things have no quick and easy fix.

How to eliminate the Dept. of Education? Calculate the monetary value of how much the DOE spends annually on each state, then give states the option of opting out of oversight and assistance from the Dept. in exchange for an annual block grant that amounts to 50% of the education money they would normally receive. Having half the aid they normally get but being able to spend it as they see fit while escaping the shackles of the DOE would be a no-brainer for most states. It would also save the money from the Federal budget

Who cares about chartes and all that? The important thing is that public education withers and dies.
