Doesn’t matter to me, I’m still planning on homeschooling.

I hope that Trump will soon come to realize that the federal government has no business in education. That’s a state issue, period.

Getting rid of the Department of Education would be a good start. Is Trump bold enough to take that action?

FedGov has no authority to involve its self in education.

That’s a selfish worldview you have there. Not all people are in a position to homeschool. What’s more, do you live in this country? Do you give two craps about the youth and how they’re educated or are you a-ok with generating more low information snowflakes just because you homeschool your kids?

We all have skin in the game here whether we have kids or not and regardless of where our kids go to school.

Yes just look at Bush’s NCLB then they just started layering more garbage on top like ESSA (this jewel allows all manner of psychologists into the school system to diagnose your kids. Using a pipeline from Medicaid). So now instead of attempting to PEEL BACK these pieces we create another scam with unelected school boards, probably a private/public partnership model meaning NO OPEN RECORDS...on and on...

Your kids, rich, underserved will all still get Communist Core Ed. Anyone who takes a dispersement will be subject to requirements. Listen to the audio. KrisAnne does a SUPER JOB.

Whoa.

Imho, people have a right to educate their children as they think best.

Maybe you shouldn’t paint with such a broad brush. First, my kids will not get Communist Core as they go to a private school that does not accept gov funds and does not teach CC. Many parents in our school have sacrificed much to create, promote, and fund a school that follows a classical, Western curriculum.

Second, my comment above was in reference to a comment that indicated the poster didn’t care about what happened to education because their children aren’t utilizing the public school system. My point was WE ALL should care. The education system as it currently stands has ramifications on all of us.

You missed the point of my post. Of course, parents have the right to educate their kids as they wish. The post above took the attitude “I don’t care what happens because my kids aren’t part of it”. My point was that we should all be interested & vested in reforming the school system.

Sheesh.

I imagine you keep pretty busy as a parent. I don’t blame you if you’re not going to solve the nation’s problems this day.

I know too many people who go from one mission to another, always solving the problems of the world, but never solving their own problems.

Then care about it at the local/state level. End all federal government involvement in education. If CA wants to teach kids they were spawned from the swamp, who cares?

I don’t have time to listen to the file. However I have been trying too warn people about DeVos and how she might be a Faustian bargain. Today I hear the DeVos family is a large donator to GLEP ( Great Lakes Education Project) and guess what they are Pro-Common Core. My gut feel over a year ago told me Trump would win, my gut feel is telling me this was not a good move nominating Mrs DeVos.

For now, his plan is a giant step in the right direction. he also stated a desire to let States control curriculum instead of the Feds - that's a step in moving the government out of the business.

Taken in small bites, w/o covering other details can make any good thing sound bad. If the Feds stop funds cold, schools would be in such disarray it would be nuts. Gonna take a few steps to get the huge teachers' union out of power and weed out those who only have their jobs because of the union.

Some things have no quick and easy fix.

I’m invested in dismantling the public school system. Parents should be responsible for the education of their own children.

It’s absolutely necessary that the DoE be abolished.

Who said I didn’t care? At what point did I say I didn’t want to return power to the parents and to the local level?

Maybe your issue should be with the FReeper who alluded to not caring about anyone else because they homeschool.

a nightmare. as soon as individual taxpayer homeschoolers and independent private schools across the USA take a voucher or ESA infusion, they will require curriculum alignment with Communist Core. Privatizing schools will mean the HARMONY schools, for example Gulenists Turks will access tax dollars to run their charter school, which they are already doing via STEM grants but more of this will come and we cannot open records these schools.
Trump needs to abolish the DOE first (this will eliminate the bribery tactic) for us to take him seriously, but if he does that who will then disperse the money he is promising. Listen to the podcast...there is much more to this.
