Why Donald Trump Needs to Take a Salary (criticized for not taking salary)
Politico ^ | 11/15/2016 | Bob Goodman

Posted on 11/15/2016 5:57:18 PM PST by GilGil

In his first interview as president-elect, Donald Trump pledged that he will accept as little of the presidential salary as he can get away with. “I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year,” he told CBS’s Leslie Stahl. “$400,000 you’re giving up,” she responded, as if this were some sort of public-spirited sacrifice.

I didn’t win that much, but I won some. The biggest one was a bet I made the week AFTER the Billy Bush video..

We are at the lowest DEFCON level in years.

Why isn’t the anti-war crowd grateful?

Russia and Syria are willing to talk. Isn’t that something to be thankful for?

Every foreign government Trump has contacted speaks of going forward amicably. Where is the appreciation?

His potential cabinet & judicial appointments are diverse. Where is the approval?

zer0Care will be replaced without any dislocation of coverage. Pre-existing conditions accepted. Kids up to 26 still on policies. Same-sex marriage declared “settled law.” Abortion will be up to the states. Where are the sighs of relief?

Finally, Soros and the big shots on the left are planning the next few years, meaning they don’t think they can take the country down with a color revolution in 2 months. I wonder if the paid protestors will become a permanent fixture?

Actually, I always thought a color revolution would come from our side.

ROTFLOL!

If President Trump HAD taken the salary, then politico and the rest of the enemedia would have attacked him for that, saying, “Oh, President Trump is a billionaire, he shouldn’t be taking a salary”.

Everyone see how this all works: attack President Trump no matter WHAT he does.

Fortunately, such constant, overt hatred by the enemedia is completely liberating, freeing Trump to totally ignore the enemedia who will ALWAYS attack him no matter what he does, and to simply do the right thing without concern for their guaranteed criticism.

This is pathetic. The biggest miracle is that it didn’t take three of them to write it.

Actually, I believe basic contract law requires he take at least a nominal salary so that he can be classified as a employee of the Federal government. He receives compensation ($1.00)and benefits ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$) and, in return, is expected to faithfully perform the duties of President of the United States. Upon completion of his term in office, he is then entitles to all the privileges and benefits ex-presidents enjoy.

There has been the suggestion that he could donate all his salary and his pension to charities of his own choosing, so he'd know the money would get there.

No taken the money leaves it in the Treasury ... until it's earmarked for something else.

Interesting sub-title on that article:

“There’s a reason the Framers wanted the president to get paid—and if their logic was good enough for George Washington, it should be good enough for Trump.”

Guess that doesn’t apply to the Electoral College, though.

George Washington declined a salary too.

They made him take it anyway.

Keep trying what?

$400,000 is peanuts to a billionaire who will be taking a step down to stay in the White House and travel on Air Force One.

Trump is an awesome presence that the MSM is clueless in how to deal with a Republican winner who needs NOTHING they have to offer.

Let the kicking of ass and taking of names begin!

The real issue is when you are a billionaire does less than half a million a year matter? NO not at all. I hope that he donates it to a few things that will drive liberals absolutely nuts. My suggestions are: (1) a veterans group, (2) a Pro-life adoption of counseling group, (3) A law group that defends people on conservative issues.

Go Trump!
