Focus on the part that says "my leftist friends". There is the root of your problem.
Sometimes it’s hard to get perspective when you’re so close to a situation. As a mental health therapist you must know that you cannot control your loved ones behavior and must accept them for who they are or release them. Chances are good that once the shock wears off your loved one will come around. If not then you must grieve your relationship. If the way you voted was enough to send them packing then you value that relationship more than they do.
I’m really sorry that this has happened to you. I’ve heard many stories like this one, I have a beloved uncle who is an atheist *radical atheist and a crazy lib. He tries to pick fights with me all of the time but I’m completely secure in my convictions and cannot be swayed. It makes him crazy but I love him and pray for him. Maybe that is all we can do.
I quit arguing with liberals about politics before there was a Facebook. I quit discussing politics with my extended family members (all Democrats) in 2008.
My daughter’s Facebook was blowing up with angry liberals last night. We both had some good laughs at those comments.

I went through something similar back in ‘12. I simply unfriended them, problem solved. I never looked back. Friends that want to change the US to the detriment of my family are not friends.
Yeah my reaction is the same, post after post about how Trump and his supporters are Nazis, and at least one already calling for his assassination. And they are totally blind to the corruption of their candidate and how she and the DNC rigged the process against the Democrat that could have won, Sanders.
You can “unfollow” them without dropping FB. Despite the liberal bent of the corporation, FB is great for staying in contact with friends. I just unfollow the people losing it over the election.

The Chicago liberal wing of my family is in deep mourning. My Snowflake BIL posted that he was terrified. My daughter wanted to roll into a ball. My other two kids are conservative. My Son a Sr. CPO on the USS Nimitz, my other daughter a Nurse Practioner. My daughter in Chicago just bought into all that Liberal BS mind control in College.

I was on Facebook several years ago for a short time. Got
trapped on there & could find no way off (until they did
finally install a function for exiting).
There was so much pressure to get more “friends” on your
“friends” page. (My cousin had over 4,000 “friends” because
he’s a radio “personality”.) Me? I’m just DEPLORABLE
TWINKIE.
I wouldn’t refuse to “friend” anyone; because I was afraid
I’d hurt somebody’s feelings. Didn’t know former classmate’s
married names; so I just had to guess. Graduated many
years ago.
Finally, one woman asked me for a date - wanted me to meet
her at some location in another town for a “date”. - I’m
not gay & that was a suspicious offer on the face of it. I
had mental pictures of Twinkie lying in a ditch somewhere
on a deserted road, beaten and robbed.
I deleted all the “friend” pictures and clicked a request
option to GET OUT OF DODGE! Haven’t missed it.
I only let conservatives on mine. And block any of their friends who make a lib remark.

How about long term friends who actually did vote for DJT but still willingly soak in all the MSM propaganda and believe all the lies about him, love Megan Kelly, and ONLY voted for “that embarrassment” because they feared HRC more! A 35+ year friendship gone because the snowflake couldn’t stand the truth!
Henceforth, friendships will be strictly defined in terms of patriots vs traitors. Useful Idiot Snowflakes will only be tolerated to the extent that they are willing to accept Truth!
