Our family tree is passionately conservative, but these last few days on facebook have revealed a niece who has drunk the drink of collectivism, with passion.

Time to quote a little Solzhenitsyn to the friends.

I do not do facebook, but I do Instagram.

Rather than "de-friending" others, I speak my mind and let them de-friend me.

If they want an open, respectful dialogue, I am OK. But to be shouted down? They are not my "friends".

I see this too. I just hide their posts without response. During the next 4, 8 or even 16 years, they may come to see what great things can happen for ALL Americans when we have a competent, smart president with lots of executive experience, one who is not beholden to special interests or dependent on the dishonest media. I hope.

OK, guys. So what do you do when it is a beloved family member who posted he will not be home for Christmas because the rest of the family are bigots for voting for Trump? I am heartbroken and trying to put this aside on a day I should be celebrating.

I also just had a colleague (I am a mental health therapist) who commented it was a sad day. I replied that I was sorry for her loss. When quizzed, I responded that I am delighted with the outcome of the election.

I have this problem also. I think I will be using it less.

I have one tip that can help many people.

Did you know that you keep a facebook friend, while deciding NOT to receive everything they post to their wall?

You just have to “unfollow” them. They will not be notified, no one will. You can still catch up on their life if you are curious by visiting their page manually.

http://www.postplanner.com/how-to-unfollow-annoying-people-on-facebook/

You can also can form custom groups so that you broadcast news only to certain friends and not others.

My mother once said, “think carefully before you advertise anything about yourself to the general world.” We were talking about bumper stickers, but the conversation could cover Facebook. A friend who taught fifth grade said the school board issued a memo essentially forbidding teachers and school employees from being on social media. The memo said they could be fired for a poorly worded post.

Some of the things I have said on FR would have been sufficient to get me fired from my two most recent former employers. None of it was racist, sexist, etc. But much of it was not PC.

At GD I had a discussion with a black employee and he reported me for expressing views that conflicted with the diversity policy. (There was a communist sounding phrase he used which I don’t recall.) The HR manager came all the way back to my cubicle and sat in my guest chair. This had never happened before. He whispered that it would be a good idea if I never spoke to the other employee again. Also, I should avoid talking to anybody I didn’t know well. That was advice I followed.

As a Republican professor in Massachusetts, my FB colleagues and “friends” are totally freaking out. The odd thing is that their language is much more incendiary and prejudiced than anything Trump ever said.

I have not made a post today....I am holding off. Most know my politics and one colleague actually shook my hand. But otherwise I am keeping my head down and my comments non-existent on FB.

Libs are having a tough day, as did we in 2008 and 2012. It was time for a Republican sweep. Let’s hope the new policies work.

I will make some cogent posts in time...

I suggest you get back on Facebook, but get rid of your “progressive” friends.

Yep. Done that for the most part. We (my conservative friends) use FB as a sounding board and conservative information sharing mechanism.

We need to fully utilize the capabilities of social media to our advantage. Not walk away and let the LibTards take it over like everything else. I think this campaign proves that.

Deleted my account months ago. All of you would do well to delete your accounts. Everyone who voted Trump should delete their Facebook accounts. Now.
