If we had an American government, these attacks would be history.

What makes you think you didn't just see the US "cyber attack" on Russia?

I can see the sequence of events:

Agent #1 - "It looks like the Russians are using these servers up in New Hampshire to get the IP addresses of servers they want to access."

Agent #2 - "OK, we'll shut down that server they are using."

IT Contractor, probably hired on an H1-B visa - "Sure boss, we'll launch the DDOS attack from our Langley facility using our web of compromised machines. I've sent encrypted messages out to the BOT network to target those servers."

Agent #1 - "How come I can't log on to Facebook?"

Agent #2 - "Why can't I log on to Twitter, or Pornhub?"
