Monday’s presidential debate was a blowout, surely the most one-sided confrontation in American political history. Hillary Clinton was knowledgeable, unflappable and — dare we say it? — likable. Donald Trump was ignorant, thin-skinned and boorish.
Yet on the eve of the debate, polls showed a close race. How was that possible?
After all, the candidates we saw Monday night were the same people they’ve been all along. Mrs. Clinton’s grace and even humor under pressure were fully apparent during last year’s Benghazi hearing. Mr. Trump’s whiny braggadocio has been obvious every time he opens his mouth without reading from a teleprompter.
So how could someone like Mr. Trump have been in striking position for the White House? (He may still be there, since we have yet to see what effect the debate had on the polls.)
Part of the answer is that a lot more Americans than we’d like to imagine are white nationalists at heart. Indeed, implicit appeals to racial hostility have long been at the core of Republican strategy; Mr. Trump became the G.O.P. nominee by saying outright what his opponents tried to convey with dog whistles.
.... as recently as August Mrs. Clinton held a commanding lead. Then her polls went into a swoon.
What happened? Did she make some huge campaign blunders?
I don’t think so. As I’ve written before, she got Gored. That is, like Al Gore in 2000, she ran into a buzz saw of adversarial reporting from the mainstream media, which treated relatively minor missteps as major scandals, and invented additional scandals out of thin air.

That statement is a whole pasture of bullshit. It ranks right up there with Comey saying that he and the FBI are honest people. It cannot be considered to be a lie, because a lie has some believable aspects to it. Therefore it gets classified as pure unadulterated bull shit.
Since the tax filings Clinton have made have ALL had to be refilled due to “errors” (as in, she got caught) for YEARS it has to be pointed out that the “filings” she released is, in all probability, fiction.
LIBs like this krugman degenerate are insufferable. They are truly mentally disturbed and full of hate. One can only hope that these malignancies lose not only this election but also lose their positions of authority and responsibility. LIBs are useful to ridicule and laugh-at...that is it. They are today’s freak show.

Americans recognize we have a demographic that is destroying the country but we keep hoping we can save the country without resorting to simply slaughtering them like rabid dogs.

My question for anyone: What is the current estimate of the Paul Krugman IQ?
My best guess is somewhere in the min-80’s. Maybe as high as 87.
I talked to my 13 year old granddaughter yesterday, and asked her who all the kids were supporting. I was surprised when she said everyone she knew was supporting Trump. When I asked her why, she said “Hillary is a liar, lies all the time, and Trump loves America.”
I’m amazed by how many people make their choice for president based on how has the most or best debate zingers.
What’s up with Hellary’s comment that “the next 40 days will decide the next 40 years”? What does she mean by “the next 40 years”?
It is going to be so much fun to watch these folks flail and rage when they aren’t running the country.

The most one-sided debate I ever witnessed was the first Romney / Obama debate. Obama lost the debate and gave a pitiful performance for a sitting President.
Obama lost the debate, Romney lost the election.
