We All Think Hillary Won Debate, But I Wouldn't Be Surprised If Trump's Poll Numbers Go Up

'Morning Joe' co-host Mika Brzezinski reacts to the first presidential debate Monday night at Hofstra University.

"I think, probably, we all think Hillary won," Brzezinski said in the 6 a.m. hour Tuesday. "But my blood pressure kept going up throughout the whole thing — I could not stop watching until the very end because there was something that was telling me he’s going to do quite well out of this, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. He was not as bad as you would expect him to be."

"I think he said things that touch on not just what primary voters think, but what people are thinking on a number of levels. I just wouldn't be surprised if he came out doing better in the polls after this," she said. "And she was not as great as she could have been."

Trump was real, to the point of being a poor debater.

Hillary was scripted and fake, and was a good debater.

On a very important level, the sense of a person trumps (ahem) the performance. That's what got Mika sensed, and why she clutched her pearls. Voters, Americans in particular, desire honesty. Only one candidate offered it, even though he didn't debate well.

From what I have been able to gather today, the debate didn't make any difference, and if it did, it was to Trump's gain in support.

By (my) definition, improving in the polls after a debate means you won the debate. If you fall in the polls, you lost the debate.

Any other definition is meaningless. Debate Points are worthless. We are chasing electoral votes. Talking heads should easily grasp this obvious fact but for some reason they don’t.

If polls were honest we should know in a few days who won. I think it was Trump but I could be wrong. Finding honest polls will be a problem but we are a pretty savvy bunch. We will manage.

I think he is playing the long game. He really only had to hold his own and come across as "Presidential" in this debate.
There are many things he could have hit back hard at, But didn't.
The main one I was yelling at the TV about was when she brought up the Housing Crisis and laying out all the bad things that happened to normal citizens.
He easily could have hit back hard with the fact it all goes back to Democrats starting the train(Jimmy Carter and Dem congress).
And Hildebeast's husband and his Housing Sec. Coumo cutting the brakes and stoking the firebox.
Sprinkle in some info about how many times the Republicans tried to stop that train, or at least slow it down and were blocked by the Dems for good measure.
I think he could have really drove a nail in the coffin with that one.
