I’m loving these LM stories. I recently heard one where they were one of the first crews to airdrop a new hum vee. Well, sometimes it doesn’t go as planned. The chute fails. When the brand new hum vees came out the back the chute failed and the trucks tumbled end over end over and over. The loadmasters were all high fiving and excited because they were the first crews to destroy the new hum vees. Not their fault. Stuff happens.
I’m so excited for your son. I spent much of my life calculating center of gravity and weights for many projects including the four seat pallet in post #13. There used to be a manual from the Society of Allied Weight Engineers that was very useful, I don’t know if they still have it though. http://www.sawe.org/
I got to check the accuracy of my new scales by weighing the four seat pallet and then weighing it with four known lard asses much like the one in the picture, lol. Walking into a C-17 for the first time is mind blowing.
