Not very close in NYC terms. I believe this is close to where Chelsea Clinton lives. (27th and Madison, a few blocks away.)

Just saw the surveillance tape. 29 people hurt?. One critical?. The people who just passed the door before the blast are seen instantly running the other way. Who are these 29 hurt?

Seems pretty close to me. I’ve walked that route, straight down 23rd to FDR with my wife in about 20 minutes, maybe 25.

Probably 1.5 miles. It’s not close in NYC terms. They are on opposite sides of Manhattan.

I’m not sure how many were pedestrians, but the first reports I heard was this was outside a building that had blind tenants - Assn for the Blind or something like that, and most of the injuries were people in their building, from broken windows, shrapnel. It must have been a large explosion - two witnesses on a rooftop two blocks away told CNN they felt the shockwave ‘go thru our bodies.’

It's pretty far, in Manhattan terms!

If you start at 6th Ave and walk east, you hit 5th, there's no 4th, then 3rd, 2nd, 1rst, and then you have to hang a right to get to the next street to go south to the ABC Ave.s.

One bomb was detonated on 27th and the other went off on 23rd, so from the first bomb that went off, you must walk 9 blocks south, to get to 14th. !

From eye-witnesses...the explosion on 23rd. was big, VERY big and so loud, her ears were still ringing 1/2 an hour later and she wasn’t all THAT near when it went off. Oh yes and there was a big cloud of smoke.

"9 blocks south, to get to 14th"

Short blocks North/South

Long blocks East/West

Instead of 4th Ave, at that point, there's Park Ave South. There's a 4th Ave south of 14th St.
