Read “Gone with the Wind”
In the novel you will find a description of Scarlett’s father, Gerald: “Gerald’s mind becomes addled after the death of his wife, Ellen.”
That pretty much sums it up!
Well, V K., living in the South now, I see I’ve got a lot to learn. But one thing I’ve learned already. With air conditioning, two months of a very hot summer is much better than a six month long winter in the Northeast!
That’s what we like about the south :)
Seriously, how people can live north of the Mason Dixon line in the dead of winter is beyond me. Once had an opportunity of transferring to NYC back in the early 70s After giving careful thought it was decided to decline and stay in my home state of Texas. We do have our cold spells here, along with snow and ice, but they are few and far between. It’s not the heating bills so much; for us, it’s the A/C bills in summer months. This summer was a VERY mild one with only a few scattered over 100 degree temps. Stay down south and you too will thank Heavens for A/C!
As his unblinking praise of Mark Zuckerberg suggests, poor old Glenn seems to have a gullibility problem, so Ill spell it out for him: very few on the left are really hurt by what I say. They claim to be, in order to shut down debate.
Epic.
One of my very southern, farm-raised but quite literate grandmother’s favorite phrases was “addle-pated nincompoop.”
LOL That brings back so many memories from childhood. The word “nincompoop”. How many times did we hear that from younger siblings? :-)
