I have been pondering a split based on monetary issues.

Let’s say that the printing of worthless money combined with the discovery that our gold reserves are much less than expected or reported leads to hyper-inflation.

In response a state - let’s say Texas - decides to protect their citizens’ finances by issuing a gold based currency that works “side by side” with US dollars. The stability of this new currency leads many to cash out and buy Texas Lone Stars.

The feds get upset and threaten to cut off Federal Aid. The State of Texas decides to confiscate Federal property as financial recompense. The Feds send in troops to secure their “property.”

Things go downhill rapidly from there.

I would like to add that under the premises and scenarios written by Bracken that many police and armed forces personnel would refuse to carry out their orders to disarm their fellow citizens.

Therefore the government would seek to bring in foreign police and armed forces to supplant our domestic police and troops. Added to this would be a government drive to recruit police and armed forces out of the millions of Muslim refugees that will be here.

Hillary and friends would have no qualms about crushing her domestic opponents in a cruel and brutal manner by whatever means necessary.

I think to have a full CWII the chain of command would have to be divided over the correct response to events, as was the case in 1861.

Yet another McGee BTT.

Anyone who has run the numbers on this (and believe me, Soros and the rest of the totalitarian Left have) knows it is unlikely to end well as things are at the moment, through lack of a reliable enforcement arm. This isn't like a coup in Panama, the country is huge. There are two traditional ploys to address this difficulty: inception of another law enforcement arm, and bringing in what amount to occupation troops from the outside. Toward the first alternative we have already seen some motion. The second does not seem feasible - even in Northern Ireland the British went from welcome stabilizers to intolerable occupiers in the eyes of the public in the space of a year or so. It is that option, however, that gives rise to the Red Dawn scenario: formations of blue-helmeted unfortunates tasked with a takeover. Open season, no bag limit. Sucks to be them.

But the formation of a domestic enforcement arm is something that is under active investigation under the auspices of Homeland Security at the moment, as others have pointed out. That's something that sounds perfectly feasible to the academics and urban elites who will be planning the thing, but I'm a bit skeptical if it's any more feasible than marching in a bunch of human targets from Anakanapanistan. Think of the folks running their fingers over old ladies at the TSA checkpoints trying to kick down doors in rural Wyoming. Sucks to be them too.

Hence a need to concentrate the real effort on those islands of power that are the Democrat-controlled major cities, at least at first, and to starve out the gun owners by restricting supplies of new purchases and especially ammunition. The current government of California is experimenting with options in that regard with, I am told by people who live there, somewhat limited actual success on the ground. This sort of thing always looks better on paper than it does in practice.

What I'm suggesting is that the resistance will have the initiative from Day One, if we are ready for it. If we are ready. In the late 18th century we had Committees of Correspondence and formal communications pipelines outside the control of government already established - that is, after all, what Revere was cantering over the countryside in the dark to accomplish. I tried one time to estimate how well we are armed today compared to how well they were in 1775. It's staggering. All we are short is the same thing they were then, the determination to resist and a sense of having run out of alternatives. As you have said yourself many times, that's a powder keg waiting for a match.

I’m totally prepared for this. I’ve marked out my safe space and posted “no guns” signs to keep the government at bay.

I’m a little more optimistic. I think Hillary and the unelected federal bureaucracy will continue to nibble away at the 2nd by outlawing certain ammo. Taxing ammo. Using the EPA to crack down on manufacturing and gun ranges. Use the IRS to shut down sellers. Outlawing civilian transfers of all firearms. Making CCWs harder to get, and outlawing more and more types of guns. It’s just boiling the frog until one day we emerge from our dens to find out that we no longer have any more Constitution or individual rights.

She’ll appoint a couple of liberal judges who want to legislate from the bench and they’ll rubber stamp her new executive orders.

Mathew, your articulation of a possible trigger for patriots and conservative Americans to turn to violence as their only recourse is not without merit. Your scenario follows along the similar thoughts put forward in “Unintended Consequences”. We conservative Americans mostly made up from those families regardless of race or color, born and raised in this nation for generations if not from the founding will not tolerate gun confiscation. Those of us which pay our taxes, worship God, obey all constitutional laws, and love our country will band together. We follow the rules and do not burn down our own communities because of the mistakes of a few bad people. But when the institutions that govern our very lives become our oppressors; which they have begun already, risk taking the final plunge toward tyranny with a Concord and Lexington type moment as you suggest Hillary might attempt than violence will occur. If they are that dumb and think those of us will disarm at the stroke of their pen then they rely too much on believing there are some lines that should never be crossed. But they have already been crossing those with abortion, Obamacare, gay marriage, restrictive gun laws, and all the other unconstitutional mayhem, so never say never as they may yet prove to be that dumb. When white conservative males are pushed to the limits and act in one accord whole continents burn down, not poor neighborhoods and big city hell holes.

So, if Hillary does win (hope not) and does what you say to the second amendment (pray not) than law abiding citizens like me will not obey and we will fight. When fighting starts it might begin on an immediate small scale similar to Unintended Consequences, but I believe whole States and even counties within states will reject those laws. Than even within law enforcement and the military some will not obey. If after the start of escalating violence with law enforcement trying to confiscate weapons shot and killed, judges and politicians preemptively shot, government buildings occupied and destroyed, if after that the courts and federal government fails to reverse course and instead doubles down and declares martial law and calls up the military, than the CWII has begun.

I believe one third of the states will defy the federal government. I believe States like California will have half of the Counties not enforcing gun confiscation. I believe the military will be in conflict and will either refuse to follow orders or will become ineffective in putting down armed resistance if not a military coup to take out the tyrant administration. If the military fails to regain constitutional order, obeys the tyrants order to shoot armed citizens defending their God given rights and freedom, than you have a full on civil war with whole sections of the military defecting to States that are second amendment defending. From that basis you have the makings of command and control of armed resistance and the shear volumes of the armed populace will overwhelm the tyrant army and tyrant LEO and in short order the administration will fall. It is easy even in this technological world to shut things down. Power, fuel, energy, communication, are all weak infrastructure and a few well determined armed men can bring everything to a standstill. Jets don’t fly with wholes shot in them or with no pilots. Tanks and APC’s don’t role without fuel. Somewhere in between the tyrannical federal government falling much of the country would experience outages. It would be bloody and short, but a small minority of armed America dwarfs all the armed government agents, military, and LEO on the planet combined, from patriots still living and breathing and armed within America’s borders.

The failure of conservatives and the wimps in the legislative branch to PUSH BACK against the left’s disregard of the Constitution has emboldened them. They now believe their goal of a socialist tyranny is within their grasp and they WILL NOT gently join all the previous iterations of their failed ideology on the ash heap of history. It’s just one way HOW things could (will?) go to hell if Clinton wins.

I just want to say that it’s not just that all Swiss man are armed. They are more Federal than we are. Their cantons are much freer than our states. They don’t REALLY have a President. The country is run by 7 people (the Bundesrat) and each year, one of the 7 is chosen to be the President for ceremonial purposes. We could learn some things from Switzerland. (I far prefer my beloved America but we can still learn a few things from a very federal republic.)
