Mexican diplomat urges U.S. to renew assault weapon ban

While speaking at a UN meeting in Switzerland, Mexico’s Foreign Minister said it was as easy to buy a gun in the U.S. as it is to purchase a “liter of milk or a box cereal.”

Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu made the remarks to the Second Conference of States Parties to the Arms Trade Treaty of the United Nations in Geneva on Monday. She advocated for greater controls by each government on the transfer of arms as well as increased accountability.

In her speech, she held that Mexico is a peaceful nation committed to an effective, realistic and sensible arms trade regulation, holding that weapons for private use are strictly regulated and need a special permit from authorities to possess.

“But these efforts are limited by the thousands of illegal weapons who come every year to our country from our northern border where the largest producer and exporter is,” she said, without naming the United States directly.

Removing ambiguity, she went on to state that there are 23,000 licensed gun dealers in U.S. border states, contending that guns can be bought at “fairs, online and even in major supermarkets in the country,” and that it is “so easy to acquire weapons as is buying a liter of milk or a box cereal.”

Union of Peoples and Organizations of Guerrero State.
Yeah, the Mexican government called them “vigilantes”. Sound familiar? Armed villagers are citizens, they want cowed peons.
Like the cheap labor express. Mexico just wants to unload its problems on us gringos. This puta can kiss my culo.

What you should really be afraid of is the shoulder thing that goes up.

We know she is lying because we don't sell liters of milk in this country, we sell gallons.

There are two type of countries in this world. Those that use the metric system, and those that put men on the Moon.

The problem with Mexico isn't guns walking in from the United States. The problem is murderous drug cartel gangs and corrupt politicians, police, judges, and soldiers who are "on the take" and allow the dealing and murders to go on for years either from bribes or out of fear. Those willing and able to stand up against the epidemic corruption are few and far between and more often than not simply fired or dead if they don't comply.

The problems in Mexico are caused by the endemic corruption in the Mexican political system - just like we are seeing now in our own native political class. How long before the "Mexican Disease" extends all the way through the rest of our own "public servants" at every level as it does in Mexico?

It's not about the guns. It is about the people, their leaders, and their moral underpinnings.

She blamed the demise of the U.S. federal assault weapon ban in 2004 in large part for Mexico’s gun violence problems

Actually the US and Mexico's open borders policies are the cause of Mexico's gun violence problem.

The failure of the US to enforce their sovereignty on their southern border creates a condition where barbarian invaders from Mexico are free to cross into the US carrying illegal drugs.

The presence of these drug dealing, criminal, barbarian invaders in the US makes it necessary for law abiding Americans to be prepared to defend themselves with the best weapons they can buy. Therefore gun sales are very profitable and firearms are available from a number of sources.

Unfortunately many barbarian invaders do not obey American laws and illegally obtain weapons here - which they return to "peaceful" Mexico across Mexico's open northern border.

The solution is actually quite simple. Both countries should enforce their mutual border to prevent criminals from passing between the countries. If Mexico wants to greatly reduce their crime rate maybe they should build a wall on their norther border and stop interfering in the internal affairs of their neighbors.

She blamed the demise of the U.S. federal assault weapon ban in 2004 in large part for Mexico’s gun violence problems, saying the availability of formerly banned firearms in the States “gives transnational criminal organizations enormous firepower” that has an effect on both sides of the border.

Are they trying to say that TRANSITIONAL CRIMINALS will not get a weapon because of some ole silly "LAW" - and they call this "common sense gun control" BARF

The Mexicans need to worry about their own ****hole and stop worrying about America. We’ve got this. The first thing the Mexicans can do is build a wall to keep their freeloaders, thieves, rapists, and murderers in their own country. We don’t need that crap here.

How about Mexico passing a drug cartel ban, and actually doing it, instead of taking their money.

She advocated for greater controls by each government on the transfer of arms as well as increased accountability.

Sorry Claudia...no sale!

Millions of your citizens are in our country illegally and continue to pour across the border everyday.

You know why Claudia?

Because Americans are a free and prosperous people. And that didn't happen by advocating for greater government controls or increased accountability of arms.
