Libertarian VP Candidate Video; Rifles are "Weapons of Mass Destruction"
Gun Watch ^ | 7 August, 2016 | Dean Weingarten

On August 3rd, 2016, the Libertarian candidate for vice president, William Weld, was interviewed on REVOLT TV

REVOLT TV Chief Political Correspondent Amrit Singh asked candidate Weld about legislation and his views on guns.  A short video clip of the relevant section has been posted on Youtube by occupy the media.  The gun segment starts right away in the clip.

William Weld:
"The five shot rifle, that is a standard military rifle, the problem is if you attach a clip to it that holds more shells and if you remove the pin so that it becomes an automatic weapon, and those are independent criminal offences.  That is when they  become, essentially, a weapon of mass destruction.  The problem with handguns probably is even worse than the problem of the AR15."
 Amrit Singh:
"What can you do to help control this flow of guns, if anything?"

William Weld:
"You shouldn't have anybody who is on the terrorist watch list buy any gun at all."

William Weld was United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts from 1981 to 1986. He was governor of Massachusetts from 1991 to 1997. He should know that the ban on "high capacity magazines" is independent of them being inserted into a rifle; it only applies to magazines made after 1994, and applies to magazines with a capacity of over 10 rounds, not 5.  There is a five round limit for shotguns.  He was governor when these limitations were put in place.

Weld also opined extensively on the recent police shooting of Philando Castile in Minnesota.  He was certain that the police officer had committed a criminal offense and that the officer would be going to jail.  He misquotes what Philando Castile's girlfriend said on video; then he claims that it was Philando Castile who said it.
Weld: Having said "I have a license to carry, you do not mind if I reach for it, do you?"
As an attorney, he seems to have little care for the rule of law, due process, and the idea of "innocent until proven guilty".

The officers involved are under investigation, and are unable to give their side of the story yet.  At the minimum, it would be prudent to say that we should wait until the investigation is concluded before making innocent or guilty judgements.

Libertarians have traditionally been the party with the strongest support for Second Amendment rights, and upholding the rule of law as defined by the Constitution.

These statements seem unlikely to resonate with the Libertarian base.

I thought this was the Libertarian Party, not the Democrat Party.
Oh, well.

“More disinformation from an ignorant fool. First, there is no military organization in the world that has a 5 shot magazine for its standard issue battle rifle. Secondly, the notion that conversion of semi-auto to fully automatic by simply removing some “magic” pin, is complete nonsense. Gun grabbers live by spreading bullshit.”

100% correct.

The pin can be found under the highcall, which is next to the sling ring which is in close proximity to the non adjustable adjuster, which is on the opposite side of the warning label that’s above the doodad controller. Any questions????

‘The only other possibility is that they have been infiltrated in the same manner as the GOP has been, with Globalists acting their assigned roles.’

A certainty of that.

Thank you for the time. Well, with a VP like that, I’m just glad those freedom-hating weirdos aren’t voting for Hillary.

Yes, does the pin that makes an aR15 fully automatic have anything to do with the shoulder thing that goes up?

I didn’t mention ‘clip’ on this thread did I?

A clip is that little ‘ammo box’ at the bottom of many weapons, such as the M1, Glock, and M-16.

But if you don’t have a drum, single fire is superior IMO. Some people think that rapid shots from single fire is a ‘machine gun’ because of the rapid single-fire.

And if you need to suppress, it would not be much of a law breaker to record gun fire and chuck a voice recorder off somewhere.

What rifles do that? I challenge you to find a single semi-automatic that does that.

Damn! How far they have fallen!? FINALLY, those on FR can label the (L) appropiately.

Though, I guess it’s no worse than the GOP: Lip service to the platform\base, non-adherence every time else.

Now, to go find a party...

Gee, I was thinking more along the lines of flechettes in a shotgun shell.

A veteran swore me to secrecy. Not saying which weapon, but according to him, it was used in WWII. Just took a minor adjustment in his garage. And I thought it was pretty stupid of him to switch such wimpy number of bullets to full auto.

Heck, maybe he was just trying to scare me.

“The five shot rifle, that is a standard military rifle...”

The standard military rifle is an automatic weapon that can carry dozens of rounds...

First off, Bill Weld is an elitist, lawless a$$hat. If there's anyone who has NO BUSINESS being anywhere near the libertarian ticket, it's Weld!

Secondly, this is the only rile of mass destruction of which I'm aware...

The M55 "Nuke Launcher."

The only problem is that it's from a really bad (but admittedly extremely fun) movie, "Starship Troopers.

Actually, a semi-auto shotgun is good enough. BTW, blowing off some loose gunpowder in ‘can’ makes a big noise. The real effect is when you compact and compress it, then explode it.

Thank you for posting that to him. I was about to reply to him and inquire of his knowledge of firearms. Maybe, on the other hand, I should hire him.

Yes, without it, it wouldn’t return to cap off the next round.

As dad would say....

"A Banana Clip is something that holds bananas together. And a High-Capacity Banana Clip, holds A LOT of bananas".
