Still Report #1116 – Julian Assange – TPP Text is Still Top Secret
Still Report ^ | 8/14/2016 | Bill Still

Posted on 08/14/2016 10:40:22 AM PDT by GilGil

Good morning, I’m still reporting on TPP.

According an interview with Julian Assange done by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now, less than 14% of the text of the TPP has been released to the public. Twenty-five of its 29 chapters are still secret.

According to Assange:

“Once we’re in, we’re stuck forever.”

Goodman interviewed Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Monday and published the interview yesterday over the Pacifica network on their daily news show, Democracy Now at Democracynow.org.

This is simply outrageous! I just don’t know how to describe this in non-conspiratorial terms. We stand on the verge of becoming a world of slave states required to do exactly as the multi-national corporations want us to do. Humanity’s 2500-year-long quest for freedom will be eclipsed – forever.

This is not an exaggeration. If TPP passes, we will still have democratic-looking arms of government. We will still have elections, but they will be decided by corporate money alone. We have all seen this cloud of corruption that now dominates the halls of Congress. TPP will cast that method of operation in stone in perpetuity. Only Donald Trump gives us – the U.S – any chance of breaking this evil oligarchy. This is our last chance to turn this around.

And, if Hillary Clinton wins the U.S. Presidential election, TPP will surely pass in her first 100 days in office.

I’m still reporting from Washington. Good day.

Nobody is looking out for the American people’s interest. We are being circumvented.

Hasn’t the American public been told that the entire agreement was released for public review a few months back?

Parsing Demo-speak, that translated out to,
the entire public part was released for public review.
The rest, not so much.

Exactly...if it were all that great, the government “representatives” would be standing out on the capitol steps, taking pictures of themselves, touting how wonderful they were for the next 2 months. Instead, they hide. Evil and treason always hides in the dark.

> Don’t anyone forget that the go ahead vote enabling TPP was cast by Ted Cruz ...

Get your facts straight, Cruz voted against cloture for TPP.

But he voted FOR cloture for TPA, without which TPP would have been dead.

Lyin’ Ted and Lyin’ Ryan co-authored a WSJ op-ed supporting TPP.

Lyin’ Ted and Lyin’ Ryan both support “Pathway Amnesty” and NO BORDERS...to serve their Goldman-Sachs & Chamber of Commerce masters.

Both are traitors!!!

It was my understanding that the full document had been released, so I don't know what to make of the statement from the Assange interviews that only 14% has been released.

Assange has been tantalizing the public the past few days, so I think it's time he released a bombshell (if he has any) on at least one subject he's been addressing.

Sorry for the premature post, mobile browser issues ..

Anyway, I think Cruz did vote against cloture for TPA as well (can't find the exact roll call vote for some reason), but he did write a follow up op-ed opposing TPA.

However Cruz did "flip-flop" on this issue, and should be rightly criticized for not opposing it from the start.

Here’s the original chilling interview with Assange:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihE712ucGmE

It’s being handled as if it’s classified materials... congress may go in and look at the documents, but any notes they take are confiscated and kept by the Gubmint for safe keeping -_-

Sure you do.  Big money to be made making up stuff about TPP.  iirc there was another thread saying the TPP is 6,000 pages long from some other pundit selling op-ed copy.  Doesn't matter that anyone can download the full text & read all 700-some pages because these guys still have a market to sell their stories.

Isn't trade great!?

I think you might have solved the puzzle without intending to. For months most used the figure of 5,000 pages to describe the size of the TPP agreement. If only 700 pages have been released, then there is Assange's 14%.

700/5,000 = 14%.

And we were told for months that the agreement would be made public at some point, but if only 700 pages have been released, then we're back to "you have to pass it to find out what's in it".

So, Assange might be correct, and if so, it is pathetic that we don't hear the opponents of TPP demanding to see the rest of the thousands of pages.

...we were told for months that the agreement would be made public at some point...

That's what folks want to hear, that there are thousands and thousands of pages still secret, it's what pundits get paid big bux for saying and what freepers galore post every time it comes out.  So the situation is that the experts say it's thousands of secret pages even while we've got the ustr.gov link for the full text, and most folks go w/ the experts.

Do we?

TPP Printed Out on Jeff Sessions Desk Looms Several Feet High

So, you believe the 700 pages at ustr.gov link is the complete text of the agreement? There seem to be contradictory claims concerning the TPP. I think I'll go with Sessions.

It was known when TPA and TPP were being discussed by Congress that only one third of the treaty was even available for Congress to look at and no notes or info were supposed to be made public. Screw Cruz - he enabled this Treasonous charade to move forward with a two or three step implementation from the get go.
