If Islam underwent a Reformation, of sorts, with entire pages torn out of the Koran and a total repudiation of Sharia, then the “Religion of Peace” could be accepted into the world community of religions.
But the Muslims won’t even consider it. They believe the Koran is THE EXACT and INFALLIBLE word of their deity and no discussion is allowed. (Funny how Christians believe God’s word was heard and written down by flawed humans but Muslims believe Mohammad didn’t make ANY transcription errors. Not a one. Weird.)
Change the Koran into a document compatible with civilization and maybe Islam can be accepted. But their current course heads them straight toward a Final Solution and civilized people abhor that thought.
I would say the answer to your question is 'no'. I think the west either a.) lacks the will, or b.) is so riddled with progressives that agree with the enemy that a coalition to stop them is impossible.
It reminds me a bit of Europe in the run-up to WW2. If you read about it in depth, it is shocking how far the Europeans bent over to appease Hitler. Sure, they eventually came round after Europe was over-run by the Germans and most of the Jews of Europe were bring rounded up for death camps. Yes, the allies eventually "won", but at a terrible cost.
If the west ever does engage is such a struggle with Islam, the cost will be as great, if not reater. And it is all complicated by the fact that we have allowed so many of the enemy to live among us. I don't like our chances.

Not yet, but we will. And then it needs to be recognized not as a religion, but an overarching criminal conspiracy with mystical beliefs.
It will be a much greater cost. There were 60 million Germans. There are 1.6 billion Muslims. The problem is, the Germans had the political and self-preservation skills to understand defeat and surrender. To make change. To reform their ideology. Islam doesn’t. They won’t. No matter if we were to go into every country run by Islamist leader, overthrow it and put in non-Islamic leadership, and conquer each and every one of them, they will fight to the last one. The so-called “moderate” is a lie. It’s either liberal Muslims or extremists who would rather kill the “infidel” moderates as soon as killing us “apostates”.
We are not fighting reasonable and rational people.
Well, I said I didn't like our chances. In England in the run-up to WW2, the isolationism/appeasement was driven by WWI fatigue. Once they stood alone, the people got on board with Winnie and stood up to Hitler. Now, PC and multiculturalism and marxism, stupidity and general cowardice are so ingrained in the population that I do not see any great awakening occurring. Also, there are so many of the enemy living among all the western countries. I think the best we can hope for is to expunge them all from our shores and not let any more of them in. They'll probably take over Europe, though.
