After seeing the video I don’t see how these officers were in danger, they already had him down, these officers have a tough job for sure but doesn’t look like in the video that they handled this correctly, when law enforcement tells you to do something , you better do it! , you can clearly see that he was taken down and that’s where it should have ended in my opinion, the man should have been charged for any breaking of the law if any at all.
Out of control cops is about all I can say. We are missing the beginning of the interaction but nothing here justifies killing the guy, nor assaulting him. A few bad cops tar them all.
Of course he didn’t listen. He was a felon several times over.
Cold, yes, but it is the cold hard truth.
This type of thing is a risk to all of us. I carry a concealed weapon and can just imagine someone yelling gun and the cops shooting first. Too trigger happy, hyped on their power, overlording all of us.
19? I think that was the number of arrests.
Still, this isn’t the wild west. Two guys couldn’t handle him with their fists and a taser or baton?
I was no angel in my late teens and 20s but i ALWAYS showed a lot of respect to cops, especially in NJ, where they are brutal to NYers.
More than one time I could have put myself in a position to get shot, as could many of us have, probably.
But we didn’t. We just obeyed the guy with the badge and the gun.
Just like the ending of Jackie Brown.
he’s fighting with police, he has a gun, he told them he has a gun and then fights with police some more.
Why should police assume he will not escalate his use of force when he already is escalating ?
why should these officers take the risk of being stabbed or shot for someone who is breaking the law, resisting arrest, failing to comply with their instructions, fighting with them, and is armed ?
If,when the dust has settled, you believe that the stop,or the cops words or actions, were uncalled for and/or illegal you hire a lawyer and sue the police agency *and* the cop(s) involved,FOR MILLIONS.
But you don't resist. You don't even mouth off.It should be "yes,sir"...."no,sir".And if you want to throw in an "I will be suing you and your employer, officer" that's cool too...as long as you do it in an even tone (not shouted).
Both cops and the perp escalated this situation far beyond the point it should have been. Why cant a peaceful conversation be had between cops and (for lack of a better word) detainees? Everyone just chill and things will work out much better than this situation did.
You only say two things to cops: Yes Sir and No Sir unless you want trouble.
Pray America wakes
Some policemen are jumpy. I can see why. It doesn’t make this behavior acceptable in any case. The police have been and are targeted. People film everything they do it seems and the world sees the action, whether complete or not. Is this the case where body cameras were knocked off?
Wayne: let me help you understand why people just can’t cooperate with the police. ATTITUDE. Criminal,thug,37 year old with kids all over the landscape selling thug CD’s in front of a convenience store in crime central, carrying a gun, hate-the-cops, I’m big, black and bad ATTITUDE! Now, factor in the general tone of building criminal anarchy and the recent murder of Detective Michel in New Orleans by a daring POS thug and there’s your answer. Criminal record ‘family man’ had a gun on him. He was gonna go back to jail. He didn’t wanna. Now he’s not. Add him to the multiple OTHER black men killed by BLACK MEN on the streets every day and you have the big picture. ATTITUDE. Some times the cops end up killing them, most times they kill each other. NO great loss either way, IMO.

ITs my opinon that the idiot cop had cocked the gun... this makes it EASY to go off in a struggle... if not cocked it takes a lot more force to cause the action to cock and fire...
so.. you want to guess? he had cocked it, and they were being jostled and blam... hole in chest...
its bad practice given how little force it takes to fire a weapon already cocked to fire.
Just because the cops have you down on the ground does not mean there is no hazard. They knew he had a gun and he was continuing to struggle. This is a dangerous situation.
If the cops thought he was going for a gun, it is not surprising that they shot him. Having his ankles pinned means nothing, because you do not fire a gun with your feet.
The whole thing will be settled by the courts. The jury will have the benefit of a lot more information than we have here, and you have to trust the system to come to the appropriate decision. It could well be that the cops are guilty here.
But the sad thing is that this whole thing could have been avoided. Any concealed carry permit holder knows that one has to be particularly careful dealing with the police when one is armed. The police are going to look at you as an imminent threat, and you have to do everything possible to put them at ease. This has nothing to do with right or wrong. This is simple self-preservation.
I agree. Obey and live another day to fight the charge in court. Look at the last several notable police shootings...the person who was shot did not obey a lawful order by a police officer.
We all make choices and have the freedom to make any decision what we want...however, there are consequences to the same. Period.
Additionally, I hesitate to judge the actions of others on a short video. We have no idea what the officers knew, what intel they had, what transpired before the shooting took place, etc. Sometimes what looks like a particular scenario is very different. Law enforcement officers have a crappy job at best...doesn’t justify rogue behavior,
Are there going to be situations that go bad and the wrong person is killed or injured? Yes. In a country of 350 million people, that is just the law of averages. Make the law of average more in your favor and follow the lawful orders of a police officer and chances are you will still be alive.
