The AR platform is reliable, versatile, accurate and can be accessorized. Gotta love the AR, there are infinite amount of manufactures that caters to this market. You can trick out almost every section of your AR.
Here are some must-have AR accessories.
Suppressors If you never shot with a suppressor, give it a shot (no pun intended). If your state allows for suppressor use and ownership, this is one accessory worth a serious look.
Grips Having a grip that feels comfortable can help improve your shooting and confidence. There is no shortage of great grips available and you can choose from an almost infinite array of styles.
Triggers Nowadays, its amazing you can buy custom triggers for the AR's which is better than shooting the stock M4 or M-16A2. Check out Timney and Rock River Arms. See the rest of AR's accessories here. What are some of your AR accessories?
Magpul forend. Magpul mbus. Aimpoint comp m4. Vltor BCM gunfighter charging handle(Medium).
Maybe the suppressor.
I have an unfilled Form 1 around somewhere, but haven’t decided on the .22 or 5.56model.
The M203 is useless without an HEDP round, and each of those require a Form 1 tax stamp, if you could ever find them.
Thank you for another illustration that the unconstitutional National Firearms Act, and the bureaucracy it enables, must be abolished.
Well...after the balloon goes up, you can get your own ;)
Larue PredatOBR with Iron sights. All I need.
I thought the Magpul B.A.D. (battery assist device) was a gimmick at first, but not after installing it in about two minutes.
“Its all the other stuff that people hang off the rifle that I think gets a bit silly”
Especially when the platform was designed to be light. If the rifle grows to be around 10lbs it better be chambered in .30 cal.
My interest besides compatible ammo & mags is there seem to be certain advantages in home defense use with 5.56 as opposed to 9mm or such. (Of course something shorter like a pistol being easier to navigate inside a house)
(obviously best of all worlds would probably be a tax-stamped SBR in 5.56)
I see your simplicity, and raise you an optic-
Magpul mlok forend
Adapted to Surefire light with pressure switch on the other side (The profile is awesome.. you don’t even see the pressure switch at all)
Forward grip (Not a fan, but my left arm is deformed so my wrist doesn’t turn palm-up)
Colt deep checker grip
handle / ring sight top end
Colt iron sight
Magpul MOE rear stock (I want to get rid of it.. I’m still not finding a stock that meets my requirements. I’ll likely return to a colt fixed stock)
My favorite mod so far is 100 full 30 round magazines.
Go with the 5.56 ... it will suppress the .22lr too.
Who carries all those rounds for you.
The MSM didn’t explain that.
I assume there’s a rifle in there somewhere.
I put a weather station on mine. Also a satellite TV dish for those rare tactical scenarios where you don’t have cable. I’m not going to find myself restricted to broadcast - do you realize how silly rabbit-ears look when they’re on your rail?
Was he the kind of guy who would swallow the pin too, for effect?
“All those accessories can mean the difference between 450rpm or over 700rpm. Ive heard the baddest AR puts out over 700 rounds per minute (per MSM).”
My optics add 87 rpm all by themselves.
And prolly add a hugh fear factor.

Certainly. For instance if the invaders of your home are clad in bullet-proof vests. In which case, the buffer tube w/ Sig arm brace is only interfering w/ maneuvers. Or as w/ the PLR16, no need to hold steady against a single-point sling, if that’s your favorite stability hold for outdoors pinging.
One thing w/ that particular gun: The original polymer 10 rnd mag does not drop naturally upon release. I have replaced it w/ an aluminum 10 rnd mag to begin festivities - after that, no possibility of concealment as everybody can see where the heck you’re firing from. I dubbed it Dragon Fire for that reason.
I replaced my SureFire fore-end on my Colt 6271 with a Geissele Mk8 13” M-Lok fore-end. Since this is my counter-sniper configuration, I mounted a MagPul M-Lok off-set mount and a 800 lumen TLR-1 HL. Magpul backups and that’s about it. It groups under 1 MOA at 100 yds, so I’m comfortable with that.
My Colt 6920 got the SureFire fore-end (replacing the factory Magpul MOE) and I just added the AFG2 to give me better grip and access to my Surefire light. My 6920 came with the MOE furniture, and the stock rattles. My 6721 has a CTR which doesn’t even rattle when unlocked, so I’m thinking of an upgrade.
I have a Colt original M4 stock on a spare lower, but it’s not even as good as the MOE stock.
I want one. With a suppressor.
