Add the Choom Gang.
Don’t think Hawaiian gun owners have a choice. As soon as you buy one you’re on the state’s list—or more properly, you have to be on the state’s list before you can legally buy one. Bringing firearms into the islands are also tightly controlled. Now, if you buy a gun from a criminal on the streets, you’re not on anyone’s list!
When draconian regulation makes law-abiding citizens into criminals, it is not the citizen who is the criminal; it is the government that is abusing its authority. Laws that unconstitutionally restrict a gun owner's right to privacy and to keep and bear arms need not be obeyed. They have lost the force of moral law.
I don’t disagree with your conclusion, but smuggling is not a very practical answer, except for those who enter the state on ocean-going yachts. Air travelers and cruise ship passengers have their baggage inspected. I confess, I do not know the procedure for legally bringing in firearms into the state. I know that New York requires you to get handgun permits before you can legally bring them into the state.
No loss.
Gun registry first step by Adolph Hitler
I lived in Oahu for 18 months when hubby and I were first married he was stationed at Tripler Army Medical Center, and their politics were just as screwed up then as they are now.
In CA all Gun Sales including Long Guns / Shotguns require Registration. Of course, that is just the tip of the Iceberg.
Our little Nazis in Sacramento are hard at work making Legal Gun Owners overnight Felons with some new Gun Control Laws.
The only answer is Non-Compliance until such time that you can escape. It’s like East Germany with nicer Weather.
Hawaii & some other states register handguns at the point of retail sale.
Now...if a handgun owner in Hawaii sells that handgun, is he required to report its sale/transfer, and is the new owner required to register it?
How is this constitutional? Where is the due process? This is the ne stuff of totalitarian states.
