Greetings Everyone. Time for us once again to gather around the computers & speak of what we need to do & are going to do if & when our civilization falls down flat upon it's face.
And before we begin, I know that I am kind of lax about putting this thread out. I/we have our priorities in place. and for me I have a wife & son both with special needs that come first & foremost in my life. Then comes our homestead, and stuff down the line from there.
My garden is doin ok, since we are having the triple H's[hazy,hot & humid] here in Mo. And I'm fightin the garden raiders. I'm about to break out the air rifles [named "Rodent Remover',"Splat Stick","Bunny Blaster",Squirrel Smacker"] for their finial judgement. I also over the Father's Day weekend got to go learn a new skill, It is bow fishing. I seem to be half way decent too. I just need to get a lot more practice before I can chalk it up to being able to put food on the table. My state's dept. of conservation put the class on for free. This is one resource that we need to be using for our continual training & education. I seem to get new ideas from them all the time.
Also a lot of you out there would like to see articles on different subjects, like when & where is the best areas to "bug out" to, or how to build the perfect fortress for you & your family. I have NO problem with someone else jumping in here and writing an article from time to time. I for one do not have all the answers [and a lot of the time am "winging" it]. So if you feel like you have an issue that is burning you up on the inside, please feel free & jump in & put it out for all of us to read & discuss. [Just my $.02 worth btw] I am also gettin my windmill system just about ready to test deploy, [just to see if there are any "bugs" in it] And putting my "junkyard" ideas to work. If the wind systems work, then I'll tackle a solar system, backups.
Also has anyone else [besides me] been watchin the price of gold & silver today? Gold is $1318.20 and went up $50.00 to day, silver is $17.79 up $.38 today all based upon the events in England & Europe. Unrest makes the price of gold & silver go up. So keep a close eye out on the world events.

Keep a close eye on them. They will make the first mistake. They’ll go after someone - even you. Don’t turn your back on them. Don’t invite them to dinner. Don’t share with them.
Because they WILL make a mistake. They WILL attack you. They will attack fast too - within 96 hours of the event.
All of your neighbors, my neighbors and everyone’s neighbors are much different than the neighbors you’ll have in 6 months. Get to be friends with THOSE neighbors - the 6 month ones. Right now, no neighbor is safe.
I have some of that stuff on my lists to get. I do have several portable radios, boom boxes/radio/tape/cd players. All operate with batteries and electricity. Have one that uses battery and hand crank to recharge.
The one that is probably the best is an Am/FM/TV/12 band radio. It will pick up news from overseas - used to listen to BBC now and then. Still need to work on communication though no CB etc. Wish I was rich - I have a list a mile long.
1) Keep in mind that there will always be someone who is liked the least. Think carefully about whether this person is destructive enough to be worth the reaction.
2) How severe your reaction should be depends on how dangerous this person is. In most cases, shunning might be enough. If they steal or endanger others, then for the sake of your own conscience, make sure they are actually in the act before you pull the trigger.
3) Whenever possible, follow basic guidelines of justice. A hearing, a trial, a decision made by the community.
I don’t know your exact situation, so I’m afraid I can’t get more specific than that.
We’ve been picking fruit. Put up 15 1/2 pints of strawberry preserves, tonight is sour cherry preserves, and red raspberry preserves. (I’ll send you a jar of something)
Been jerking beef 5 pounds at a time using various recipes. The Excalibur dehydrator I picked up off Craigslist for $65 is getting a workout. Local cherries dry out amazingly well. They’re delicious.
We’ve got a Foodsaver so we vac seal lots of stuff.
Costco had USDA Prime New York Strip, whole, for $10.99 a pound the other day! We got a nice roast a dozen 1-1/2 inch thick steaks off it. All vac sealed and in the deep freeze.
Garden is in and growing nicely. Pole and bush beans, beets, tomatoes, and yellow, purple, and orange peppers. Beans and beets will pickle and can well.
Herbs include chives, thyme, rosemary, oregano, will all dry and keep essentially forever.
Fishing when we have time. It freezes and cans, too!

I already have all the gear I would ever need and actually more. I stocked up on ammo back in the 80s when I had money.
I wasn’t really buying it for survival but ran across enough bargains that I ended up with more ammo, knives, saws, fire starters, actually too much to even list, that will end up with my Grandchildren.
For example I once was in a TG&Y in Dodge City, KS which was going out of business. I stopped in when they had reduced everything to 60% off. What the story was, I have no idea but they had just brought out several hundred boxes of Remington .22LR. The premium stuff. I ended up buying over $200 worth and got around 500 boxes.
I still have most of it.
Green beans are a low acid food and MUST be pressure canned. But it’s relatively straightforward if you have the right equipment.

Wow, you do it all. We had a huge freezer, but canning finally in cans not jars. No canned meats since we were doing it for cost and not worried about long term power loss.
I inherited the freezer and always had it packed when I had children at home...things change and I am alone now so rotate huge amounts of staples, and plan for water safety. There is a limit to what I want to do now.
On the geopolitical note:
We, as conservatives are often more laid back and reserved than our enemy - the liberal. If this next election is a Clinton win, then I’m sure we will actually march (armed) on the capitol and demand a coup.
If Trump wins the left will be exactly as enraged - only they aren’t quiet and reserved like we are. They won’t march on anything. They’ll go NUTS in every location they can be found. Cars tossed, people killed, buildings burned. I can say this because if Hillary gets in (I’m convinced a mathematical impossibility) then I will, for one, be angry enough to start destroying shit too. And they’ll kill people for a pair of sneakers.
Add to this Obama. When Trump election results are announced, the monkeys will go absolutely crazy. People v people violence the likes of which will go down in world history. And Obama will “have no choice” but to do the following:
Declare martial law.
Blame, as he always does, us.
Enrage more of his disciples.
Declare Trump as “Unfit for office” and take further action to “Ban Trump from the white house”
The people will CHEER him for doing this.
We, on the patriot right will be forced to make a decision like no other. Bloodshed. And we aren’t bloodshed people.
So the most effective way to fight without becoming a war criminal (Well.. not really) is to become a hacker. Just hack and destroy everything you see.
While I do garden and attempt to produce my own food, I’m no damned good at it. What I am good at is rigging logistic forms to make a Red Cross truck appear at my front porch.
CB’s are dirt cheap, you can get just about anywhere for little to no money, the other stuff can get rather pricey, but there are bargains out there, just keep your eyes open to different possibilities too.

Curious as to your rational for the above. We have had events last a couple of weeks in some areas, but we do not seem to see what you suggest.

First you need to agree on a representative form of government, if you are going to have free trade and free movement. This surrendering of national sovereignty to unelected bureaucrats in a faraway place is just nuts.

I only pick “96 hours” because of the average amount of supplies in American homes.
My real point is that they will make a mistake very quick. It won’t take weeks or months. They’ll hide in your bushes the moment they run out of cigarettes - much less an actual food item.
Coms;. This weekend is the annual Amateur Radio Field Day where hams all over the country set up... you guessed it... in the field. Ham clubs all over the country plan for this weekend all year. So, if you are interested in coms, how easy it is to get your license, how small of an investment is needed to get on the air, and meet some like minded people, this is the weekend. Google for your local amateur radio clubs and get connected.
I suggest buckwheat as a cover crop and soil improver.Grows quickly and overpowers the weeds,and it makes a tremendous amount of biomass.An added bonus is the bees just go nuts over all the flowers.
Then the girls divorced and moved in with their kids, so we made a basement apartment, and had a refrigerator with a freezer there too.
When we started gardening, we bought an upright freezer, but right after the warranty, was gone it quit, and repair man couldn't find anything wrong with it. So after it quit and ruined stuff a couple of more times, we unplugged it, bought a Walmart small chest style freezer, and started putting up stuff by canning or dehydrating.
I understand the willingness or lack there of. When Hubby gets too ambitious with the garden, I just tell him there's no way babe - you gotta do the preps, and I'll finish it up.
I try to get him to do succession cropping, but he just plants big humongous amounts all at the same time, so it really overburdens when it comes time to preserve it.

I do have buckwheat down on my list as a summer cover crop, in case I need one, but have not purchased any seed.
I have rye, hairy vetch, and clover left from last year, so I’ll use that up first.
If you do clover be sure to get the proper inoculant bacteria to go on the seed.The clover will fix vastly more nitrogen into the soil if you do.
