Understand this about the media’s pursuit of agendas: It’s often not so much how they cover stories, as it is which stories they choose to cover at all. Let a bunch of people on social media start using the hashtag #IndictHillary, and I seriously doubt it gets any attention. A bunch of people on social media wanting something is not a story.
Why does everybody have to be a sexual pervert these days? What happened to decency?

I would assume that the comics creators are all gay at this point, given all the gay characters and storylines of the past 15 years, give or take.
It screams AGENDA.
I can't see any other reason...from a marketing standpoint...that would cause the comic book industry to cater to such a miniscule segment of the overall population or their intended audience.

Comic publishers are headquartered in large cities...they think the whole country is just like the world outside their windows.
They are targeting Cap because he is the most likely of the Marvel heroes to be Christian...remember the remark he made about God in the Avengers film?

I agree. If you are skilled in social-media and using “robots” you can probably up-vote something 1000 times in a few seconds.
There probably are relatively very few people who care about Captain America in the first place, and then of that, what size subset is so excited about him “being-gay” they will pursue the creators on this? Both the request and the media grasping of this story indicate it is totally manufactured.
