Lenono Yoga III Tablet (Vanity)

I hope this does not qualify as Opus that gets me banned.

My wife purchased a Lenovo Yoga II tablet along with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for me as a replacement for an older Samsung galaxy tablet and Acer Aspire laptop because she wanted me to be able to travel with les stuff. The hope was that it would replace two devices (Laptop and Tablet) with one device.

Instead it will stay in a drawer (Unless I purposely beat it with a hammer so I can throw it away)and I will use the older devices when I travel. It was a complete, as far as the things I need a device to do, waste of money

The problems The Blue tooth keyboard does not initialize correctly. I have to go through the initialization process three to five times every time I wish to use the keyboard. The mouse works fine the keyboard doesn't. I've done the updates, exchanged the keyboard and followed procedures. Looking at various message boards this seems to be very common issue with this machine and there is apparently not anything that can be done about it.

Serious question: A standard wireless mouse and keyboard use regular batteries that can be recharged or replaced. Why can't blue tooth use these? I see no actual advantage to a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse over a regular wireless keyboard/mouse. Is there something I'm missing here? It bothers me to have to charge three items - the mouse/Keyboard/CPU separately. this is a huge pain if I am in an airport with limited plugs and means I have to carry additional wiring to charge the devices.

Is there any real advantage to a "mini" USB and "mini" HDMI port other than size? Once again I now have to carry adapters so more stuff to lose.

Even with an additional memory card the machine does not have enough memory. If you install an actual word processor system you have very little usable memory left. When I ask if it was possible to obtain a larger card the Microsoft rep said "Save to the cloud! in a huffy voice. Well I do not trust the cloud connection if I am traveling in China. Additionally a lot of airports, in my experience don't have a very good wireless connection or you have to pay for the connection. Sorry no deal.

When I do connect to a wireless connection I consistently get a weaker, less stable signal or connection than with the older machines.

I finally, in desperation took it back to the service provider and asked if the Windows 10 could be removed and Android left on by itself. I was told I could remove the Android but not the Windows 10.

Online reviews of this machine are excellent but they are not my experience.

I find the product difficult to use, under powered and and generally a pile of crap that should have never been bought and should have been returned immediately rather than trying to work through the problems. It does not play video better than the older machine. Is more difficult to access and frustrating to use. The only nice thing about it is the larger screen than most tabs.

My experiences are my own but I would not recommend this machine to anyone except as a gift to someone you hate.

Actually, your review makes it sound like buying one is a Lenono.

“Banned? Why so?’

I should have used a /S tag on that line.
I am just almost irrationally angry at the machine.

79.95, 10.1” Android tablet with good reviews and excellent battery life.

For anyone that might be interested.

Has HDMI out and a USB jack for things like thumb drives.

If you are this disappointed, this isn’t the laptop for you, take it back or sell it.

I have a 10 inch laptop I really like. It’s an Asus t-100. It is a tablet with a detachable keyboard. I always use it with keyboard on. The keyboard attached works through a mechanical connection, not bluetooth. Off, you type tablet style on the screen touch keyboard. The keyboard has the usual usb. On the screen/tablet is a mini usb you charge with and can use as usb to transfer files. There is a mini hbmi but I’ve never used it. The cpu is atom and a recent edition which is plenty fast, just don’t over stuff you machine with a lot of app, only ones really needed for casual use.I bought the t-100 with 64g on board and added a 64g mini sd for file storage. Mine is upped to win10 and has no issues.

I got a Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 laptop (not a tablet) about a year ago. Best laptop I’ve ever owned. 13.1” 3800 x 1800 screen, 8 gigs of ram, i7 cpu, and 512 GB SSD. It’s almost instant on and instant off. Keyboard is permanently attached but folds all the way back to the back side of the screen, which turns it into a touch tablet. Maybe you should get the laptop instead, but it cost about $1,000 so that could be a drawback.

I upgraded the old 32 bit Acer Aspire to Windows 10. It has issues with that but no real problems (Cortanna doesn’t work on it but I don’t need that anyway and sometimes Windows tries to turn it into a touch screen mode).. The big desk top (i-5 processors) used as a home server that stores all our video and company records is Windows 10 (Upgraded from Windows 7 Professional)once again it has no problem and I like Windows 10 a lot on that machine.

My wife thought I needed a new machine for traveling with a bit bigger screen and surprised me with it as a gift several months ago. We’ve had it too long, trying to correct the problems to return it. Indeed the keyboard was returned twice and the CPU exchanged once trying to get one that worked right. It has been left over night at the service center three times.

I would not sell it to anybody, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. It will stay in a drawer or be purposely destroyed and given to a company that recycles electronics.

The real point of this machine was to get the 10.1 inch screen that could be used as either a tab or laptop. But it needed to be able to be used with a word processor and it really can’t be used that way.

I’ll take it off your hands. $50 + postage. Will send via PayPal. I’ve made many a bad machine behave. I figure it’s worth at least that.

Why would anyone buy a computer made in China by a PLA front company? The thing must be filled with spyware, ransom ware, and other ChiCom cr@p.

I have a lenovo yoga 2. I use it for travel. I find it quite nice. I have never had a problem with the mouse or keyboard, both BT. The only problem I have had is the speakers stopped working. Apparently it is common after using head phones.

It seems that all the effort would prove the case that it’s a lemon (Lemono?) and thus you’re entitled to a refund. Have they told you that you can’t return it?
