The so called “rescue” attempt was also ran by the Air Force.

The Last Battle has the specific casualty list which lists 26 USAF Members, 12 USMC members, and four USN for a total of 42. The helicopters used were not designed for combat and were all that the DOD could muster to mount the attempted rescue. The USAF members performed with bravery but the event was not organized by the USAF, it was mismanaged from higher ups within the DOD. We left three Marines that were captured, tortured, and murdered away from Koh Tang. I was in error of memory that there were fifty USAF casualties as there were 26.

The so called rescue attempt was also ran by the Air Force....IF you are talking about Carter’s botched Iran rescue, you are so wrong about the AF that it is not only laughable, but you have shamed yourself so badly, I doubt you were ever in the Armed Forces.

I stand corrected. The air force just help contribute to the disaster but being fair there was enough blame to go around.
I was in the service as a Marine Infantryman. Hence both my disdain and envy of the Air Force.

Which, of course, alerts the enemy to the exact planes they need to target.

I recommend you read
The Last Battle by Ralph Wetterhahn. Those airmen bled and died retrieving the Marines left stranded on the beach at Koh Tang. They performed heroically and didn't flinch when the Marines needed them. I served with many Marines along with the SeeBees a the NBCC at Gulfport and we had respect for each other.
Many Marine pilots and other service members also have great respect for the FAC's and the Pararescue of the USAF.
