I know what you’re thinking. “There are people who get their daily news from social postings on Facebook?” Sadly, the answer to that is yes. At any given moment there are over 150 million users roaming Mark Zuckerberg’s monstrosity, and you can bet that some percentage of them rarely read anything outside the online utopia. So, while we may not like to admit it, the “trending” section at the upper right of the page has become frighteningly important.
Facebook swears that it determines what’s “trending” by analyzing reader preference. If it’s popular on the site - meaning it’s being read and shared by enough people - it will show up in the “trending module.” That would be nice, but we all know Mark Zuckerberg’s political leanings. Conservatives have long doubted that the trends were as organic as the company claimed.

This company is just doing the same as many other large companies: Pushing the policies of the federal government. Look at how affirmative action has spread to the private sector (under threat of federal litigation); companies just roll over.
At this point large companies are just extensions of the federal government; “too big too fail” was the cover for one arm of the government propping up another...
How do you get news on FB? All I get are selfies from a self-absorbed ‘friend’ in England. Day in, day out, hundreds of them...

You are right, but it is even worse: They do not just prop up, they take over.
Look at the way the Federal government “saved” General Motors - and then used the ensuing control that gave them to shut down Cadillac franchises, which just happened to be owned by conservatives.
When the government picks winners and losers, it is always the communists who are winners, and the conservatives who are losers.

In my area the government at various levels is eliminating any competition for “gubmint services” (education, healthcare); they’ve taxed people so heavily for public education that private school tuition is unaffordable, and they continually cut reimbursement for required “charity care” forcing private hospitals to close up.
