Limbaugh Just Got Asked If Cruz Still Has ‘Honest Chance To Win’–Here’s His 3-Word Answer
Western Journalism ^ | March 19, 2016 | Jack Davis

"The party has not lifted a finger to help him..."

Noting that Sen. Ted Cruz has waged a zealous, uphill campaign in the shadow of other candidates the headline writers have focused upon, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh admonished the oddsmakers Friday not to write off the Texan too soon.

Limbaugh was asked by a caller, "Do you think that Cruz still has an honest chance to win?"

"Yeah, I do," Limbaugh said as part of his reply. "I don't think it's anywhere near over yet."

Limbaugh noted that Cruz has been last in media publicity, but has soldiered on with a prodigious fund-raising ability and is a strong second to front-runner Donald Trump.

"Everybody wants you to believe one of two things: It's over, Cruz is not gonna get there, Trump is, and we're gonna go to a contested convention and it's gonna be between (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich and whoever else the establishment can throw up," Limbaugh said. "It still amazes me."

Limbaugh added, "And here, again, nobody's talking about Ted Cruz. And he's there every day, and he's out campaigning. He's going everywhere, and he is in second place despite all of the obstacles that have been put in his way. So I think he can win.

"He is hated by the establishment, and they are the ones that totally ignore him. The party has not lifted a finger to help him, and even now when they are starting to, they make it known that they're not happy to be doing it.

"He is being dwarfed and swamped by unprecedented coverage of Trump, who hasn't had to spend any money to get it. Nobody wants to talk about Ted Cruz. We're told over and over that everybody in the Senate hates him. We're told over and over everybody in Washington hates him. But yet he's in second place and he's won nine states. So you're asking me if I think Ted Cruz can win? Yeah, I do. I don't think it's anywhere near over yet. "

Trump trashing Cruz again in AZ.

Even if Trump wins in May, he is going to need Ted and his supporters.

Hillary is going to be a force now with Obama getting behind her.

We could be sure of a win with Cruz.

***************

Opinions differ. If Cruz can’t even win the core gop party group how in heck do you see him
winning the fringe non gop voters that will be there in the General Election? At this stage
of Cruz’s political career I see him as a right wing person with limited appeal to the overall
voters. Now that may and can change over time as he readjust his positions, etc.

Personally I don’t see Cruz continuing in the Senator position. My guess he’ll not run
next term and move on to some other project. That has been his employment history from the
beginning. Take care.

And you expect people to take your word on that. In my opinion, you are either stupid or a liar

Hey jackass, has FR not been inundated with threads about Cruz getting new donors organized for him by the establishment? Haven't we seen Romney and Graham and Marco Rubio tell people to go and vote for Cruz? What was my post about? Retorting to Rush's claim that Cruz is getting no establishment support.

So who is the stupid one or the liar? Me or Rush? Be honest.

You are incapable of criticizing your guy for anything, even when he's wrong about not calling evil for what it is. Not only are you foul-mouthed, you are also wretched.

You are incapable of criticizing your guy for anything. Not only are you dumb, you are really really dumb.

Ted is better shape than you think. He will likely get most all of free agent delegates.

I am always amazed at the level of anger against those who don’t support the right candidate. Rush supports Cruz in all likelihood, but would likely support Trump if he’s the guy. But the result is to accuse him of continuing to be overweight, a drug user, a person married multiple times (though Trumps has too), one who for years has been a part of the party establishment (though Trump has too), who has been a liar, who has lost his judgment, and who only wants to be rich and sell tea and children’s books.

Rush met with GOPe representatives, and that is assumed because he joined them, but Trump gives money and meets with the democrats and that is all right and nothing can be assumed in a negative light from that.

He never says the right things, no matter what topic he chooses, it is always the wrong one. The fact of a non-comment surely means he would disagree with an assumed position. His explanations of his thought process is always treated as a lie, and the script cannot be written that anyone would agree with.

These are the comments of people who claim to want a reasoned discourse, and who complain about the other candidates.

It is quite an interesting social phenomenon to observe.

Rush must be an important person for so many to care so much that they would expend so much effort to denigrate him.

I will be concerned about Rush’s popularity when no one speaks of him any more.

I am a native NY’er also, and I think you’re wrong. What Ted Cruz said about NY was antagonistic, belligerent and wrong. Cruz knows nothing about New York, and has little validity to criticize. Seem to think you’re in that same boat. Maybe that’s a Texas thing.

Ask the Cowboys from back in the day under Landry if a 14 deficit five minutes is possible. If your good enough, time sometimes doesn’t matter. lol

Unfortunately for your truly creative analogy, Ted Cruz is no Roger Staubach. He's not even Danny White.

As a follow-up to my last comment, once you get rid of Rush, as you appear to support, who else you going to go after with your hatred, huh? Who is the next on-air personality that doesn't toe your line of political perfectionism that you want to take out?

Your comments don't do our party or our cause any good and are actually an embarrassment to the rest of us..........

Great description! I have tempered my comments due to the hysteria on these threads. I voted for Cruz in Florida primary. I voted for my choice. We still have that right. He lost, so ok on to the next states. What the heck, I’d be pissed off if he just threw in the towel now! Now Kasich is a different story, he wins his home state without a chance in —— and is sucking wind.
He should have stepped aside after his win. Let the 2 Men go to the end and see who wins.

I heard this caller... it was a kid.

A kid who began his comments and question with accolades to both Cruz and Rush.

Rush was immediately melted... saying “You have really made my day”...

and then he proceded to answer the question (which i didn’t get to hear him finish because of work)

Sounded to me like Rush was giving the kid what the kid was looking for... hope for the man (Cruz) who “inspired” him.

How could Rush return praise from a kid with dashed hopes for his candidate?

I don’t blame Rush for fudging up the kid’s hopes a bit.

Rush was right about Cruz’s success despite complete dismissal by the press.

When there was herd of Republicans running, Mrs. Chandler asked why so many people who had no chance to win were running. I spent about 50 words explaining it. The next day, Rush said the same thing in five words: It's a resume enhancer.

Maybe yes, maybe no. I am a Cruz supporter, but I will admit he is deficient in charm and personal appearance. But then what are we to make of Trump's hair? Or Clinton's entire being?

Time for the onslaught of Trump worshippers accusing Limbaugh of being establishment mouthpiece.

He's not a mouthpiece; but I think that when he had that oxycontin problem a while back, someone from the GOP-e got their hooks into him; he's had to dial stuff back...OR...he's just gotten fat and happy and has lost the fire from when he was first on the air.

I admired his response when the Trump-Megyn thing blew up: he distanced himself from it saying he was personal friends with all kinds of people involved in it, and so he wasn't going to pass judgment while on the air; praising Kelly's *career* savvy, while avoiding explicitly backing her against Trump.

As Trump continued to do well, Rush sounded more and more like an anti-Trump partisan: but he was also careful to put in, under the guise of "objective analysis of the situation" a few highly colored observations in Trump's favor: I think that's his way of dragging his feet and showing his displeasure at being ordered to torpedo Trump. I personally suspect he wanted Cruz all along, though.

When you pay a known lifelong homosexual activist like Elton John $1 million to sing one song at your wedding, you’re a beta male, and whipped.

Hush Bimbo needs to get back on the oxycotin and taking “stag party” trips to the Dominican Republic with mislabeled viagra pills and condoms. Mitt Romney, Graham, etc etc., have not only endorsed Cruz but are hooking him up with the rest of the GOPe fundraisers. The party hasn’t come out for Cruz? Rush is either stupid or is a liar and thinks his audience is stupid.

Rush is a major disappointment. Had not heard this tho
...Seriously, did he really take “stag party” trips to DR
with oxy and viagra...Tho not really surprised, I just had
not heard that one...

Or he is hanging in there to sell himself to Trump or Cruz as the VP pick. You know, the “got to win Ohio to be President” meme.
