A Message For Higher Ed From Mizzou’s 1,500 Missing Students

Education Bubble: The University of Missouri reported a near-25% drop in student enrollment following its unrest. This is the result of political correctness run amok, weak university leadership and inflated college costs.

“I am writing to you today to confirm that we project a very significant budget shortfall due to an unexpected sharp decline in first-year enrollments and student retention this coming fall,” wrote Interim Chancellor Hank Foley in a university memo Wednesday.

Obvious solution is for the Missouri government to 100% fund the college. Right?

It’s only the beginning. That sort of reputation loss doesn’t go away in a year. And that 1500 freshman shortfall is going to last for the entire cycle of four years.

rest assured none of the shortfall is going to come out of the staff’s bloated salaries what some of these people make for what they actually do is obscene

We should all be grateful to the University of Missouri has highlighted the decline and liberalism of higher education.

While graduating high school kids may be gullible, Parents are not stupid with their money.

Mizzou has demonstrated the reliability of a university to be so liberal that is fails to recognize why a student is there in the first place. To get an education leading to a job, not attending school to be in a mob.

Wish my alma mater UT-Austin was next.

I can explain exactly why the university enrollment is way down. Every prospective student with an IQ over 80 looked at the media reports from last year's protests and asked themselves one simple question:

"You mean I might get a professor like her in my first semester?"

Unexpected? Unexpected? Ha! A blind pig with a cold would have still found that acorn.

That’s what happens when the protesters of the 70s and 80s are the administrators of the so-called higher educational institutions.
They are producing mostly a bunch of ‘Little Bernies’ anyway.

Wait until the see the large “shortfall” in interest of corporate on-campus recruiting of Mizzou seniors. No HR department in their right might would want to endanger their workplace with such people as we saw in these demonstrations.

“rest assured none of the shortfall is going to come out of the staff’s bloated salaries “

If the enrollment stays at -25% then yes it will affect them. The departments will contract and there will be fewer teaching fellows to take low level classes.

a -25% enrollment can very easily put a university out of business. It probably won’t but it could if the drop continues

I have a suspicion that this school is the tip of the iceberg in declining enrollment where PC has run amuck....

That and kids and parents waiting for the Bernie Sanders free college education to kick in if he is elected....

Not only are there less students, the ones that did accept are likely lesser in quality.

That would be a blind AND dead pig with only three legs and a cold could find that acorn.

“unexpected” only in those liberal minds.

Indeed they are.

"Mizzou has seen a 7.7 percent reduction in applications from students with composite ACT scores of 30 or higher (typically the 95th percentile)."

I heard that enrollment/admissions had dropped (I’m in academe), but had no idea it was at 25%! That’s a lot o’missing money for any university.

It might just be enough to get admins at other schools to stop kissing up to these ‘students,’ who are generally a minority on campus. It just goes to show the harm that a few coddled idiots can cause to an organization.

I’ve been thinking of this as well. No way in heck would I knowingly hire someone who took part in this crap. It’s not the protesting - I was a student in the 70’s and did my share of protesting.

It’s that these people don’t want any one else to participate in classes and campus life - they don’t want religionists, they don’t want conservatives, they don’t particularly want straights or white people, etc. They’re so sensitive that everything you say to them is a microaggression. Who the heck would want to work with them? Who would want to supervise them? Nope, go see if Starbuck’s is hiring; I don’t want you here.
