Why is Bernie Sanders so down on Henry Kissinger?
Blasting News ^ | February 11, 2016 | Mark R. Whittington

One of the many topics of debate that came up during Thursday night’s debate between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont was Dr. Henry Kissinger, one of Clinton’s predecessors. Clinton has expressed admiration for Kissinger in the past, particularly of his opening to China. Ms. Clinton expressed the view that one should listen to a variety of opinions, including that of the 92 year old former Nixon era cabinet officer.

Clinton has expressed admiration for...

I wonder if Hillary still expresses concern for her pals Johnny Chung, Charlie Trie, John Huang, the Riady brothers and the long since dead....Vince Foster!

Ironically, the right was none too enamored of Kissinger either, regarding him as someone more interested in managing the Cold War than of winning it. He fostered the policy of detente with the Soviet Union, advocating arms control treaties that many conservatives thought gave too great an advantage to the Soviets.

Kissinger, for his part, spent a lot of time wondering how President Ronald Reagan won the Cold War without his help. That, conservatives shot back, was the point. Victory in the Cold War was beyond the comprehension of foreign policy experts like Kissinger until it was achieved.

Yep, Kissinger always represented the blind Globalist Elitist Crowd. Certainly not the interest of the US.

Kissinger worked for Nixon during Bernie’s communist anti war hippie days and Nixon was far worse than Stalin to the red diaper Jewish anti war crowd

Because to those who understand it, Bernie was showing his 60’s communism. He also blamed Kissinger for the killing fields of Cambodia, which was the fault of the Kmher Rouge communists and the democrats in our Congress who barred us from any military action in Cambodia.

Bernie is a leftist lunatic straight out of the hippie era.

Kissinger was Nixon’s creature. By the time Nixon got finished with the utter destruction of the US Constitution, there was little left for Reagan to pick up, but not to be out done, Reagan made permanent Nixon’s war on US natural resource harvesters, destroying thousand of livelihoods and families, while giving rise to evermore onerous EPA regulations.

Of course, those not on the receiving end of Reagan’s domestic policies saw only what the MSN permitted, and now are smitten with a very bad case of hero worship as seen through rose colored glasses ... Some will say “cite your sources!” to which I’ll point to the thousands of stories that were never allowed to be shown or printed.

All that happened a long time ago and many on FR are too young to remember and too young to have lived through. All they have is what the educational system taught them. It is just a claim to them that the US was once the richest, freest country in the world, in a world where computers were few and measured by square feet, and phones were attached to a wall.

In a twisted way, I can see why Shrillary would admire Kissinger, given his reputation as a womanizer. He must remind her of someone else in her life.

Kissinger, an immigrant who fled Nazi Germany as a child, is a believer in the American dream. His life is an example of that, rising from humble circumstances to Secretary of State. Sanders, though native born, never believed in that dream, and as a socialist, feels the American free enterprise system was inherently corrupt. Both are New Yorkers and from Jewish backgrounds, but beyond that, they are quite dissimilar.

As a practitioner of classic balance of power politics on the grand scale, Kissinger’s opening to China “balanced” the Soviet Union, and over the long haul led China to stop destroying its own economy. His global efforts helped keep the Soviet Union from swallowing more imperial conquests, thus leading to the collapse of the most reckless experiment in human history (the Nazis being a by-product thereof, that would have been stillborn without without the threat of Communism). Kissinger made errors and compromised pure values for strategic ends; that is fair game for criticism. But it’s a small wonder Bernie Sanders would detest Henry Kissinger.

Let’s compare Hillary’s and Kissinger’s knowledge of history and foreign affairs, strategic vision, and accomplishments as National Security Advisor and SoS with hers. Ouch.

Because like Hillary he is a refugee from the 1960s. Nixon/Kissinger were the ultimate boogiemen to this group.

Interesting story to be written about the generational divide between the Reagan era candidates in the GOP Primary vrs the last dying gasps of the 1960s political generation in the Democrat Primary.

Youngsters don’t get the Hate Henry stuff.

Ok, I will put it terms the little commits will understand:

Henry Kissinger is Darth Vader from the Episodes I-III.

Dick Cheney is Luke Skywalker in Episode IV-VI. Except in our universe, Luke goes to the Dark Side.

Henry morphed into the Evil Emperor, and Cheney is now the older Darth Vader.

Does that make it clear?

“Kissinger was Nixon’s creature.”

Kissenger was a CFR Internationalist “creature” long before Nixon was president. I never quite understood why Nixon chose him for Sec. of State. Made no sense and it cost the nation dearly.

And yes, I’m old enough to remember. I turned 68 toward end of December.

Regardless of whether or not Sanders is right about Kissinger, I thought it was very odd when I heard him invoke Kissinger’s name during the debate last night. How many voters under the age of 45 even know who Kissinger is? During the next debate, he plans to unleash a stinging rebuke of John Foster Dulles.
